Having been found outside with his scorched wounds by our two aliens, they go about seeing what he has endured, and if anything useful can be gained from it, after this he will have his brain removed and put into something else just as bad, physically the pain is over, psychologically it hasn’t even started yet. (Also you can kinda make a timeline from the memories in the background as to what happened to them.)
