It is not common for mares belonging to breeding mills to be rescued. The often stressful living environments consign the fluffy to a short life, but some manage to escape and are brought into the caring arms of others.
However, these mares will never be able to shake the trauma and heartbreak they endured during the mill, and many sensible owners try their best to ensure a comfortable and calm life.
But occasionally, these former broodmares find themselves pregnant once again,n and almost every time, it results in varying degrees of âMill Mare Syndromeâ
In this case, Petal was allowed to have babies in hopes that she would have a litter of foals that she could love without fear of losing them..
But such kind intentions is unable to overcome the conditioning and fear she feels when looking upon her babbehs.
A condition as deep-rooted as this will be fatal for her foals, as she will find any way to lie about her foalâs condition in an attempt to never part with them. In some rare cases, the mare will resort to drastic actions to ensure a foal cannot live without herâŚ
Fluffies are caring, but they cannot always care..
(Iâm aware of the spelling error, itâs meant to be daddeh not dathew)
Damn thatâs sad but to be fair, she did come from an environment where she lost her kids constantly so yeah, her brain is pretty much like an egg at this point
Situation like this calls for drastic measures, ones that will hurt but are necessary.
Petal will need to be restrained and the foals forcibly taken from her. The important part next is to make sure she remains able to see everything that comes next.
Have her watch the foals get cleaned and fed properly, then return them to her unharmed.
She needs to associate her owner with safety and the knowledge that her foals will be returned to her. And unfortunately to get to that point, there will have to be some minor kidnapping just to break through to her.
Sometimes, I feel like in those kind of settings, I donât see a reason not to pillow her if this is the reaction. More so when thereâs an easy infection factor in play. If someone wants to do this kind of thing, probably just better to basically bite the bullet and go a bit extreme for the better good.
Iâm enjoying seeing these realistic takes on Fluffies and the negative situations they try to survive. Itâs not âIâm gonna punt you into the sun for breathing wrongâ or ultra-treacle mush, itâs just⌠the real world, with Fluffies in it, ostensibly neutral but 50/50 regarding Fluffy conditions, like our reality. Stuff like this and @Blork work is great at that
I hope there will a sequel showing Petal that her foals been feed and gave her back again without issue and have her trust her new owner and learn to use simple feeding machine for her foals.
And do separate that would be smarty, thats bad news.
Given that Petal is probably beating her babbehs to stop them from stealing her food when sheâs eating (thatâs typically how weaning animals start on solids), Iâm surprised that her foals arenât more aggressive towards her.
Love the theme of a realistic trauma for a Mill Mare. Always seeing how her foals are kidnapped but uncapable to stop it, so now even in a safe enviroment, does everything she can to keep them.
Also like how she still behaves like a regular fluffy having a bestest babbeh and a poopy babbeh. She loves them but some are better than others it seems.
I had a similar encounter to my recent ai interactions and my solution was to turn the foals against their mummah and gaslight her into believing that everything was her fault.
Tell the foals how the mummah is always lacking in something like home or food
Explain in disturbingly explicit and terrifying detail on the horrors and terrors that the mare incapable of preventing like attacks from monsters, nature and other fluffies
Convince the fluffies that their mummah never loved them enough to provide them those things or be able to prevent said things
Let the foals berate, insult and absolutely tear in the mare both mentally and physically
While fluffies are distracted, immediately set upon them any and all the terrible things I mentioned upon them and let them think it was the mares fault.
Follow all these steps and the foals will gladly come with you and the mare will either be pissed enough to attack you, therefore giving you an excuse to torture the mare Infront of the angry and disgruntled foals or the mare will be left in a catatonic state of repeated wan die because of the foals unwitting choice to abandon their mummah.
If Petalâs sharing her solid food, then they wouldnât be hungry however - 5 newly weaning foals eating their fill of an adult fluffyâs food portion, shouldnât significantly deprive Petal (they wonât be eating much as their digestive systems need to adapt to solids).
This suggests that Petal is either deceiving them into only drinking her milk, or is restraining them from eating her food, either verbally (âNu num mummah nummies! Babbehs onwy hab miwkiesâ) or physically (e.g. gobbling her food down so fast that the babbehs donât get a chance to steal anything, blocking the food bowl with her bulk, or hoof bopping any foal that gets too close).
This was the story i had in mind when i drew this. petal is using that motherly trust to decieve her foals. I tend not to wish to include more in my panels because i dont have the time to do full comics, so i just leave them open ended. (sorry posted again as im unsure how the reply system works its for brother oni if it dosent reply properly)
Itâs a quirk of the software that if a reply is straight after the replied-to post, it wonât show a link, but all the appropriate notifications are triggered (e.g. you should get a notification from this post, but thereâs no link).
If you donât have time to draw more panels, but still want to expand on the story, you could always include a little bit of blurb with the panel that helps explain the situation a bit, like some other authors/artists do.
