Bittersweet adorable but would the foal even recognize the voice as it’s late mother? I kinda imagine that all fluffies have the same voice pitch/tone and they relay more on smell to figure out who whom.

Emperor penguins, despite having the same kind of call to us, actually have VERY fine-tuned calls individual for each interaction; that’s how they can identify mates and family members (part of it). Same deal here probably, what with them being genetic chimeras. Multiple bits of compatible DNA strung together to form a complete creature equals multiple types of biological communication expressed.
