I think designers as a subspecies is one of my favorite concepts. I like the idea of pretty fluffies already being a thing in terms of their colors, but designers just take it to a whole new level, they’re super extra but i love them.
Also an extra headcanon, designers are terrible at surviving in the wild. Fluffies already have a hard time surviving out in nature due to factors such as how they stand out due to colors and how just weak they are. But designers? Nah they don’t even stand a chance.
I like to think Kitsune fluffies on their own are it’s own subspecies but what would make it designer is the extra bits and bobs that make designers well. Designers (gradients, glitters, unnatural coat patterns such as hearts and stars, etc.)
They would be blasphemy, the problem with designer fluffies is storytelling goes why don’t they fix all the fluffies flaws and if you fix there flaws are they still fluffies
I like to think most changes to designer fluffies were all aesthetic changes, but general fluffy problems still persist as problems they still have. And yeah! I share the same hc as BugBox, I like to think as pretty as designers are they are so much more prone to selfishness and entitlement. It’s like “it’s so pretty but at what cost?” kind of thing in my mind.
Not only that their fur would stand out like a giraffe in a cat convention, their “education” would make them expected a pampered life thus making them even more woefully unprepared for the cold harsh world outside their air conditioned pent house.
