In a neutral pov I’d say she made the right call even if the foal didnt have SBS it could still require more milk and in a feral environment thst can be a scarse resource depending on the environment

Kid didn’t belong to her and she wasn’t in the position or mindset to adopt.
Plus the foal was clearly well fed, so must have had an attentive mother. Yet he was already totally up for a new mommy.
