The sorry pal was a breed of fluffy bred from bad color stock for both sturdiness and slowness, so it had no chance of escaping it’s purpose as an object lesson for the actual pet fluffy. Given their general lack of pain sensitivity, abusers had to get more extreme if they wanted to have fun with the breed, and this trend of behavior soon expanded to fluffies in general.
