I don’t know about cutting them off with needle-nose pliers but you could certainly do it with wire cutters.
You could use the needle-nose pliers to crush the nuts flat like a couple of tiny peas though.

Really, if a fluffy is involved, the only thing that could go wrong is if the little asshole becomes feral and breeds. Ripping off dem fluffnuts will prevent that.
