They seem to have a lot of at least momentary popularity which is nice. I think the thing that’s setting them apart from a lot of other “let’s introduce a new type of fluffy” beyond the classics is that instead of “And they do this special thing and eat regular fluffies and…” levels of improvement?
They’re entirely bred for a trait that ends up making them more helpless and dependent on humans than regular microfluffies so they don’t have a drift into “but is it still a fluffy?” territory.
@Mikahorsie did a great job with the originals, and @LongFluffering has done an adorable take on them in their own style.
