Question #4: Mummah's Milk

I have seen/read it several times,
Mummahs saying “mummah nee’ sketties to make dah bestes’ miwkies fo’ babbehs.”
How does eating spaghetti make her milk taste better?

Agreed. Being up at night is nicer then being up at day.

It’s just fluffy logic at work, you know; “If mummah num da bestest nummies, den mummah wiww make da bestest miwkies!” this logic is infallible in the eyes of a fluffy.

It doesn’t. Nor does eating spaghetti make the bestest babies

Like everyone already said, it doesn’t at least not directly. Presumably, the more nutritious the food the mother eats is the more nutritious, and likely better tasting, the milk they produce is. Of course, fluffies think ‘sketies’ are the best food in the world and therefore make the best milk in the world when in reality, most ‘sketies’ fluffies get are pretty nutrient poor and thus produce rather poor milk.

HEADCANON DUMP INCOMING

So, first.

Mummahs are dipshits, just like any other fluff. They believe their milk is the only one that is good enough for their foals, or if they’re garbage mothers, only the ‘good’ foals.

They also have the hardwired ‘spaghetti = best food’ tardery.

This makes dams think that if they have the best food, it means they automatically have the best milk.

This depends of course. Some mares are just little cunts and use their children as an excuse to get spaghetti.

However, spaghetti -is- a high carbohydrate food, and mare’s milk has a higher sugar content than normal milks. So it might have some effect, but in my headcanon, more effective is a good blend of vegetables and whole grains, with some honey and yoghurt.

So V8 mixed with oatmeal and yoghurt = non brittle foals?

I’d throw in some salt and a pinch of white pepper for flavour, and some lightly steamed broccoli or brussels sprouts for vitamin C, but basically yeah.

The opposite however does not tend to work, going by general headcanonry. Mares were made to be baby factories, so if they’re really undernourished, their milk production takes precedence over the function of their own bodies. This has led in some stories to ‘mummah-derp’, where a sudden plunge in nutrients and vitamins causes the mother to become brain damaged. This might be (if I were to read real science into this shit) because of a sudden massive drop in B12 and related essential vitamins and amino acids.

So by your headcanon, derping a fluffy is caused by a lack of B12 and other essentials? Or at least that’s the easiest/quickest way?

In my own headcanon this radical nutrient deprivation can cause a form of derpage in lactating mares as the process of producing milk leeches the needed substances from her. She would need to be deprived for a long period beforehand as well, so her body is in starvation mode. Gestating young would force more nutrients out, and the production of milk would push her over the edge. This would be a by-product of HasBio’s intention that fertile mares would only be in production facilities, so rather than lose foals because the mare’s body thinks it’s undernourished on whatever gruel they’d be fed, the pregnancy and lactation goes ahead anyways.

This also means that you can’t abort foals by starvation.

Derping in other cases is as you’d expect, extreme psychological trauma, physical trauma to the fluffy equivalent of the prefrontal cortex, stroke, prolonged sensory overload, genetic defect, etc, etc.

I mean that’s a tad more believable than INFINITE FOALS.
