Now, THAT’S a good herd leader. Getting rid of the rubbish AND getting food for doing so.

This was the original meaning of Smarty, before it just got applied to any bossy, obnoxious fluff.
Years ago, the Smawty Fwiend was just the name fluffies gave the Alpha of the herd. Some were obnoxious but some were halfway decent leaders, at least by fluffy standards.

The meaning changed with time but this drawing well illustrates the original idea…a “Smarty Friend” making the hard decisions for its herd.

Probably not that hard when you consider that “senstib babbehs” only eat, sleep, soil themselves and scream. Forever. That’s just a waste of resources for the herd.

Sad as it is, its the truth. Sensitive babbehs are only really good as a distraction for predators or for food like this.

Being a feral fluffy is a harsh life, even smart ( for a fluffy ) and capable ( ditto ) fluffies die pretty much all the time, from everything. A fluffy babbeh that won’t ever grow up to contribute to the herd is a net negative, and then on top of all that its also screeching and fussing like its asking the world to come over and stomp it flat. This smarty is making lemonade out of lemons by feeding the brat to a foals for food machine. I’d bet after having to put up with the foal, the other herd members probably won’t allow the mummah to have any of the food, as punishment.

Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if the herd ends up kicking out the mare that birthed that little brat for trying to keep it.
