Before the wildly successful PuffFluff microfluffies, the intrepid scientists and bioengineers were experimenting with different gene edits that would create an even cuddlier, softer, fluffier fluffy pony.
One such experiment resulted in “Silky Fluffs” who have a fluff anomaly not unlike the hypertrichosis seen in humans and animals. While unbelievably soft to the touch, the near weightless gossamer fluff offered almost no warmth to the fluffy, making them unsuitable for all but the warmest of climates. In trials it was discovered the Silkies fluff bore an upsetting resemblance to human hair, which is just too uncanny valley for a children’s toy.
