Charlie looked fondly down at his new born foals.

How could anything be so small?

He looked up at Flower, who had a wingy baby latched to each milky place as she gently crooned the Mummah song, a contented smile on her face.

Charlie’s heart melted a little.

Dawkies su scawy!

Su hungwy!

Charlie jerked his head round at the sound of frantic chirping and a surge of guilt shot through him.

His other two foals!

How could he have forgotten them?

He was going to have to watch this.

He suspected that deep down, Flower still saw them as being less special than the other two.

“'Speciaw Fwend!”, he exclaimed. “Nu fowget bout udah babbehs!”

Flower pulled a face but didn’t argue, as Charlie gently nudged Chocolate and Silver towards her.

Charlie gazed fondly at Flower once more, as she latched the brown and grey foals onto her milkie places and continued to sing her Mummah song, albeit with slightly less enthusiasm than before.

Charlie nuzzled next to Leaf and Berry and looked happily around the little nook beneath the tree place, which his new family called their home.

Who needed a human housie when they had this?

+++++++++

Time passed quickly, as it does when one is happy.

The foals fed and grew; the two pegusus more than the others, in spite of Charlie’s best efforts.

Wat dat?

Su bwight…

Charlie looked down at his little grey unicorn, his heart swelling with pride and awe.

He was opening his see places! And they were so pretty!

“Speciaw fwend!”, he squealed. “Wook!”

Silver looked up at his parents, a look of confusion and wonder in his bright green eyes.

Chirps and peeps echoed around the
den, as the other three foals all slowly opened their eyes, as if in sync.

The four little foals lay together in a fluffpile, Charlie and Flower gazing down at them adoringly.

For the first and last time in their lives, the four foals were equals.
