Interesting. Feels like parody on how immediate cosmic retribution and moral clarity is to those who kill Smarties, complete with hypocritical “I keep a worse one, but only for tormenting the less depraved versions of what it is”, the “I’ve seen how bad these things can get so I know the true nature of them”, the “They always are the same and you can tell from the single simple immediate warning sign”, and “These are just organic robots plus there is no objective morality because there is no higher power or afterlife so I am entirely and unquestionably in the right no matter my actions”. With a character who is the same but without the self-delusion and false scruples it brings as the ultimate predator because the only thing that actually makes the abuser the one in the right is that they can do it and get away with it, which follows through for a slasher movie or torture porn villain the same way.
Vampire Requiem comes to mind kind of. The people who admitted they were evil and enjoyed it in life rule hell, while the ones who tried to justify themselves end up as lower rank predators who are consumed or destroyed by the apex predators. The victims tied to their abusers in the afterlife are just the herbivores everyone else in the system is fed by.
It is a parody of the whole “fluffy said smarty, therefore I can do whatever I want to it” trope, so I included a “hero” who’s only in it to feed her own sadism and desire for validation, the over-the-top comeuppance at the end, and the use of other, worse smarties as weapons against smarties who’ve done nothing wrong. The goal was to create a story that touched on all the most tired tropes I could think of and still end up with something at least halfway readable.
What a nice story bitch had it coming but still have a sourer taste because of the human on human violence and that this story feeld like a little snip at fans of Abuse story’s. If I’m rong correct me on the last one @MuffinMantis
I have to be honest, the implied human on human violence actually gives me a raging justice boner. A lot of people disapprove of human violence but I don’t mind the implications. Great work, @MuffinMantis. You sent me on a furious mental rampage with a, to me, very satisfying end. I salute thee.
This is why you don’t abuse other people’s fluffies. You open the door to getting your own ass kicked. Just stick with ferals or your own and everyone will have a fun time.
I included that part for two reasons. First, it’s another trope that’s almost as overdone as the “good smarty must die” one, so I decided to throw it in with the rest of the clichés. Secondly, it’s a John Wick reference.
It’s not a snip at fans of abuser stories, it’s a snip at using the same few cliché plot points over and over, which unfortunately is something that happens a lot. The entire story is full of tropes that are getting over used, taken to the extreme, to point how just how absurd some of them have gotten over time.
If by “smarty” you mean smarter-than-average fluffy/herd leader, they aren’t necessarily evil, but if you mean smarty syndrome smarty, they’re pretty much exclusively like Ghast, so cruel, sadistic monsters.
Would’ve been nice to torture the bitchy lady’s fluffy right in front of her and make her see everything she’s done to Smarty being done to her fluffy. I know it’s harsh to do that to a fluffy that wasn’t part of their owners troubles but Smarty was innocent too so it’s only fair.
