im still working out my personal fluffy world lore so this aint gonna be too perfect but
something something world collapse, fluffies carry a pathogen that effects livestock, primarily sheep, one sheep in one barn turns to many sheep across the nation, causing of course, fluffy scientists trying to undo the wrong and what way to do that by, instead of finding ways to protect the sheep from the pathogen, they create WOOLIES!!!
its a fluffy, but instead of their matty fur, you get matty wool, more akin to the wool of an alpaca rather than a sheep, these little guys are solely meant for livestock, more docile, a bit more stupid, and not to mention how much they cranked up the survival instincts on these little fucks. and whats even better? These little shits cant survive too long on their own! like real sheep, a woolie’s wool will keep growing, non-stop, so, say a group decide to escape to live on their own, like a fluffy would ultimately do? their wool will overgrow so much to the point that they’ll be so bulky, it will be difficult to walk, and they’ll be so hot, that they WILL ultimately die of heatstroke.
this has definitely already been made before in likely better fashion, im just throwing this concept out into the ether. ill be honest the concept just came from some other fluffy subspecies, especially ones where its turned to a form of livestock/helps with livestock. i just got the urge to make this because i was gonna start working on my aqua fluffy concepts. (have ideas like basing them off of kelpies, n of course sea monkeys)
imagine these fuckers and a herding dog. what a shit fest that would be
who??? okay that probably doesnt help suspicions. but i hid my profile because i didnt like my old posts all too much and i was more of a lurker if anything and i dont keep up with the community drama, so like, genuinely, who???
ok is this what that keeper comment meant on my other post? because i had no idea what the fuck it was meant to mean because the closest thing i could think of was “oh hes a keeper” but nobody on this site is gonna say that so that clears things up i guess? I sure hope i dont have a million alt accounts for a community i didnt want to post in for months. bad luck and bad timing on my part i guess??? i dont know what to really say here, i dont want to get banned over coincidence but i fear like every word i say here will somehow be a nail in my coffin.
Love this concept! Only issues I could see the possibility of is constant voiding of bowels and that they could likely still try to give sorry poopies like normal fluffies. With their wool like fibers it’s much more a process to get such cleaned. So would they treated similar to sheep in the matter of hygiene? (Example being of their tails being docked to prevent fly strike)
I would definitely say so! especially since, being sheep and fluffies i can imagine some of the traits would come with, fluffies, when dirtied, some would end up cleaning themselves up, sheep in real life don’t do that, and not to mention, like fluffies they are extremely water averse.
Real sheep tend to have their bottoms checked rather regularly along with their hooves to make sure they don’t end up with such conditions, its called “dagging” where they remove any shit-matted wool from their rears.
doing the research to respond to this comment, sheep are much messier than we give them credit for, though i wouldnt say anywhere near as messy as fluffy. hell honestly i can imagine some wooly-owners shearing their whole asses’ clean on a weekly basis due to the dag build up. (it depends but it seems dagging is usually undergone around twice a year with sheep) thanks for asking! it gets the cogs turning.
I didn’t do a lot of research into sheep beforehand nor have i raised sheep, generally a half-assed concept based on a single line of thought. If I develop the wooly more, i’ll be sure to do more research. I do think it would make the most sense for wooly tending to be rather similar to sheep, if not pushed a bit further into extremes due to being inherently an emergency replacement, therefore, more difficult to care for with a significantly lesser output. a much worse alternative but theres little choice unless you want to pay big bucks
