Tablet Died, Need Reccomendations (FluffyChimera)

So I had my tablet (Huion Kamvas 16) for about 11 years and it’s finally decided to crap out on me… We thought it was just the wires being the problem, but after getting replacements, we’ve confirmed it’s the tablet ports…

So now I’m looking for a replacement. If there are any recommendations, I’m happy to hear them!

Also this means that all my digital commissions are gonna be on hold until I can get a replacement…

UPDATE: Finally decided on a tablet, hopefully it arrives soon! Thank you everyone for the reccomendations :sparkling_heart:

Did you try working the shaft?
Jk.

But seriously. My heart bleeds for you, being the art production addict that you are.
Let me know if there’s anything we can do to help.

My iPad Pro was a refurbish, and it’s been my flawless companion for 7 years. I recommend looking for refurbished models of whatever you prefer! It’s like half the price

I’ve had fun with the Galaxy Tab S7 and the S-Pen that it comes with, but I’m no expert in tablets

:backhand_index_pointing_up: I recommend the Ipad as well. I’ve had mine for 6 years and all I had to do to make a littlebit nicer to draw on was put a paperlike screen protector on it.

Same, though with a paper textured screen protector, protectors for the nib of the pen are also required as it will wear them down very fast

I have been using Wacom Intuos Pro S since 2014. I can’t imagine a more convenient tablet. The response, pen pressure, everything is so natural. I tried to switch to the screen XPpen Artist 12 Pro, but the feeling is so much worse than from Wacom that I could not get used to it. For me now, if I choose a tablet, then only this company.

Good point they do eat away at the nibs pretty quickly so nib replacements are necessary for whatever stylus you use. I got a few extras off Amazon for my Apple Pencil.

Ugee S640 Graphic Tablets Battery-Free Drawing Tablet with Stylus, Purple. Well, I don’t know if it will help you. I used it because it’s cheap and it worked for me.

I really like your illustrations, never give up and I wish you good luck in life.

I use XP-Pen artist pro 16 (2nd gen). I am a full-time artist, so I draw daily and I draw a lot. Personally for me this tablet is very reliable, I don’t see much difference with high-end fancy. The tablet works flawlessly for more than 1,5 years already.
Once I was a zealous Wacom user, but after a terrible experience with Intuos Pro M 2018 that was in guarantee service three times during its first year of life, I decided that I don’t want to pay huge money for such shitty quality. Older models (pre-2017) were great, but modern Wacom is overpriced garbage. So if you decide to get one, get used one.

What I absolutely can recommend regarding additional hardware: Tourbox. Now they support iPads as well, so whatever you get, this thing will be very handy.

I’ve got the Paperlike too!

Its good right? After years of making traditional art. Its a must for a more natural drawing texture that gives a good grip when sketcing. I don’t like the glossiness and glare off the normal glass screen or the weird slippery feeling it has without it.

If you’re still looking I also want to put in my vote for a Wacom Intuos. I’ve had a smaller one for a couple years and I love it.

Silly questions:

  • What’s your budget?
  • What programs do you use?
  • Have your needs changed? Would an Android, iPad, or even Windows tablet work?

Hope you will get a new tablet soon.
