Sea-otters.
The barking flipperlegs are sea-lions and furseals.

Well… it’s set off the coast of British Columbia, and that’s plenty far south (although, I grant, orcas live pretty much at any latitude).

there are northern sea otters, seals, and fish, and most whales live on all latitudes.
