The Great Gathering Event (FluffyChimera)

Welcome to The Great Gathering!

A time where kelpies annually converge for about a week to reunite with family and friends, learn new hunting skills, trade goods and services, and most importantly fatten up for the oncoming cold times!

All of you are invited to interact in the festivities! Be it your own stories, art, or characters in the setting! There’s many activities for you to take part in, such as:

Character introductions!

New kelpies or mummahs that wanna show off their progeny may find an elevated rock or fallen tree to stand on to introduce themselves/each other! Young kelpies that have recently succeeded in their first solo hunt may even show off proof of their achievements!

Story Telling

Kelpies have traveled from all over, meaning they often have all sorts of interesting stories to tell each other! Sometimes, they might even learn important lessons about hunting, survival, or finding love from these different tales!

Playing Games

Kelpies love playing games like any other fluffy, and there’s plenty of overlap for the type of games they play! From huggie/munstah tag to stacking rocks, kelpies have plenty of game options. Though with such a large group of mares in one place, there’s most certainly going to be a number of stray stallions taking interest in the commotion and giving unwanted attention.

Thus the kelpies have developed their own games to throw those would-be studs for a loop! Sometimes it’s just a lot of fun playing pretend and winning/losing a bet! If you’re lucky, you’ll get a meal out of it!

Not feeling up to the hustle and bustle of the crowd? Prefer some quiet down time? Do you got something you wanna trade but dunno where to spend it? No worries! Just head over to

The Stoner Circle

@Poopiest_of_bebbehs Shroom has a whole host of Magic Mushrooms that you can take a lick of for the right price! You can even bring your own substances to share! All in all, the Stoner Circle is just a good place to vibe.

Has your kelpie been injured or gotten sick during their play or while on their journey to the gathering? Well no worries! Just head over to Shroom’s sister, Spore, to get looked after!

The Medicine Mare

Some kelpies take an interest in more medicinal plants and fungi, making them become a bit of a witch doctor (or more like that one aunt who’s super into holistic remedies) in fluffy terms. While Spore might think she’s performing healing magic, what she’s really doing is sprinkling penicillin mold on your sick kid and shoving shiitake mushrooms in their mouth hoping that’ll fix the issue in a few bright times. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

Either way, she’s always looking to teach others her ‘Magic’ and trade in supplies!

Hunting/Scavenging

The most important part and main goal for the kelpies during this event! Stocking up on calories is key to survive through the cold times, and there’s of nummie fluffies to go around! It’s also important in teaching the younger generations how to catch their prey in ways their own experiences haven’t taught them.

When it comes to catching prey as volatile as salmon fluffies, sometimes team work is the safest way to do it! Even then, one slip up and you’re as good as dead! Otherwise, you just have to wait for a borderline dead salmon fluff to be pushed towards the shore by the current, but who has time for that when you’re competing with all the other predators in the area?!

There’s tons of different themes you can explore with kelpies, be it family dynamics, coming of age scenarios, tragic demises, and so much more! So feel free to experiment!

Thanks to everyone who participates in this event! I look forward to seeing what you create! :sparkling_heart:

love ya kelpies Chimera

I know I’ve been super busy with a lot of stuff as of lately and I’ve hadn’t had enough time to write a story it’s just that when it comes to this specific type of fluffy I can picture them being in Appalachia mostly because of my Fallout Fascination and due to my interest in the Appalachian nature

If I were to picture a mutant variant of this type of fluffy I guess it would take akin to more of a crocodile like nature or alligator you know like a predators that often hide within the water and strike at their prey when they’re good and close I can just picture the mutant variant having regulars treating it as a alpha and said Alpha is able to hunt down some larger prey

I absolutely love crocodilians, their hunting patterns do fit with kelpies that prefer ambush hunting :sparkling_heart:

I could definitely see mutated versions of these things lurking around in Point Lookout or the watery regions of Appalachia. They’d definitely have to rely on stealth to keep from being eaten by Mirelurks or Gulpers, among everything else.

I absolutely love this. You’ve put so much work and care into building this world and it’s really interesting, engaging, and funny. I love that they can be tricky and clever, and also sweet and stupid. I love the various designs and your wonderful way with expressions. This is just super impressive and I’m really happy you’re able to share it here. This series is the kind of thing I know I’ll come back to to reread.

Definitely. I really want to contribute something to this, because you’ve clearly made so much effort. Desperately racking my brain for ideas!

A making a character introduction is a great start! Or a drawing of any kelpie shenanigans. Could also write a story from the perspective of regular fluffies stumbling across the gathering, whatever happens to them is totally up to you!

It’s not going to be artwork,.nI can tell you that much! Can’t draw to save my life. Will try and come up with a story.

Really love this so far. Also the medicine mare’s secret is a bottle of… pewcosies she found. Super effective on fluffies apparently.

I loooooove this. You’ve put so much depth in this subspecies. And the art is, as always, peak.

Though I read ‘Ow-jee babbeh’ as ‘Or-jee babbeh’ at first. Which would be a very fluffy-thing to do, tbh. “Nu kno who 'ou daddy am. 'Ou am ow-jee babbeh.”

Seagrass definitely tells some of the best romance stories to the foals. It’s nice getting to see her appear in this ^^

Kellie’s do not reject bad colours or alicorns, huh?

Kelpie’s are primarily ‘bad colours’ because the brighter coloured ones get picked off faster by bigger predators, so the uglier you are the better. Alicorns are gross and scary looking, meaning other fluffies will be too scared to run away or fight back, making them good to have.

So no, Kelpies don’t reject them, in fact they kind of have an ass backwards appreciation for them. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see more callous kelpie mothers just outright eating their own brightly coloured children based on their pretty colours alone.

An Alicorn Kelpie adult is something I’d like to see.

Kelpies are always mares and breed by luring a stallion then kill them later right?

Pretty much, yeah
