The Great Then and Now (H83r)

My submission for the resurrection event

I care not about the boxes,

A fact that some of you may know,

I care not for the bickering,

It would be best if we left each other alone.

This is the hater’s creed,

A mantra that bears repeating,

To address a certain rift,

When comradery appears to be fleeting.

I may seem an unfitting one,

To speak on the past,

On what is done,

But read these words,

And read them true,

I am still here after saying many times that I am through.

Those many times the line was drawn,

And from those lines came whole compositions,

Despite my conviction and principles,

I have come to redact my position.

Yes, I was a voice of dissent,

Though harsh were my words of judgment,

I am here without regret,

But I ask for your indulgement.

My impressions skewed thus,

By the churlish and decrepit,

Compelled me to be contrarian,

To that god awful subreddit.

It was not fluffy that drew this ire,

Although I fucking hate the fluffies,

Reddit itself stoked the coals within my soul,

And drove me to raise my irons.

But that is neither here, nor there,

It’s best to let sleeping dogs lie,

And think about the Then and Now,

The path traveled, laid bare.

In hindsight there is clarity,

The growth to appreciate serendipity,

When all had seemed lost,

There were bastions for posterity.

I was a wanderer at the time, you see,

Amidst the foreign sands,

I can only imagine what used to be,

What was, when fate dealt its hand.

I know that things are better here,

My wrath has been kept in check,

I used to be so ugly,

A mad dog left to recollect.

Now here I stay,

When I was sure that I would leave,

I thought you all were drowning,

But it was I who refused to breathe.

I still think back on those who went their separate ways,

And I hope they live good days,

But in reality I must refrain,

I confess, I wish that they remained.

To bed I must go now,

I have a duty I must fulfill,

So I bid you, reader, a pleasant time,

May you be here tomorrow, still.

Oddly enough I didn’t even have to create a new tag.

Odd. Typing it in had given me a “no results found” initially
