The Worst Day Ever... [By Biorb_McBiorb]

Gloria finished counting the register for the final time, she dreaded this part, this moment was about to crush her world to splinters…

Gloria worked in a small Fluffy Store, a family business she, her late father, and mother worked at for the last 6 years. What killed Gloria about today, was the fact that her Family’s store had been bought out and sold… And today was the last day for rescues and adoptions…

The Foals, Mares, Stallions, even the Chirpy-Babies, all were going to have to be put down, releasing them would be illegal, and just leaving them here to die by the hands of wrecking-balls and bulldozers was just too cruel… No, Gloria decided to take care of this part personally, she was their for every birth, every passing, every adoption… She needed to do this… For them.

Gloria looked down at the list of Fluffies the store had left. To her horror, there was more that she had hopped for.

Buddy and Plum - Buddy, a Yellow Coated Earthie with a Peach-Puff Mane, and White irises. Plum, a Monochrome Sky-Blue Earthie with Violet eyes. Buddy and Plum were the oldest Fluffies at the store and had around 13 litters in their lives… Not even the Buy 1 get 1 free deal could save them. They still had three foals with them.

Sky, Blue, and Pinkie - Sky was a perfect combination of the two parents, Yellow coat, Sky-Blue Mane, and Violet irises. Blue was a carbon copy of her mother, but with Buddy’s irises, and Pinkie was the enigma, Hot-Pink Coat, Sky-Blue Mane, and Violet irises.

Roscoe and Midas - Midas was a Gold coated Alicorn, with a Chocolate mane, with Blue irises, and Roscoe, a Light-Blue Coated Alicorn with a Gold mane and Pink eyes. They were both fairly young, Roscoe being ayear old and Midas only a Month and a half, but due to Fluffy aging, was already a mature adult… Gloria felt horrible for Midas, as she had helped deliver him… Thankfully, no left over foals.

Besides the Pairs, there was 6 leftover foals, all Spring Green and varying shades of Blue manes and eyes, their parents had been adopted earlier today… But not them, all had no names and all would be put down soon…

Gloria decided this was going to be the best, ‘last’ day for the Fluffies, letting them out to play after hours surprised them, but they were excited when Gloria had promised Sketti! Gloria ordered delivery from a nearby Italian place, Luigi’s, and sat and played with the Fluffies.

Midas and Buddy talked about how their babbehs were getting good homes soon, and that the ones left would go with them to Gloria’s home… A small lie she had told them to keep them happy. Roscoe and Plum talked babies as well, but how they were excited to have more soon and that they would get to keep them. The 6 Spring-Green Foals, all now named after numbers 1-6, were playing happily with Pinkie, and the free rubber balls left. Sky and Blue played with leftover Blockies and hugged each other when they fell over.

Gloria had to wear a melancholy smile the entire night, until the door knocked with the Fluffies promised Sketti. After a nice tip and few minutes of calming the fluffies down and preparing their plates, Gloria sat with her own order, a Chicken Parmesan Sandwich, and watched the Fluffies enjoy their own strange ambrosia, the fabled Sketti. Gloria remembered the special days the Fluffies at the store got some ‘Sketti’ during the end of the week, getting Ramen packets and cheap tomato sauce together. She remembered the smiles the Fluffies had… The joy that that little amount of food did for their lives, and this must have been the best Sketti they had ever eaten…

Gloria looked over to the wall mounted clock.

09:15 pm.

Now was as good a time as ever…

“Okay everyone! Eyes up here!” Gloria announced, all the Fluffies, being well trained, stopped eating or talking to look at Gloria.

“Before I take you all home, I need to make sure your all clean, and that you have no sickies!” Gloria lied, the Fluffies all nodding in understanding.

“So I need everyone to get in his nice box, so I can move you to the ‘Not-Sickie-Place’!” Gloria said, opening a large cardboard box. A few of the Foals were hesitant at first, but after seeing the obedient couples and bigger Fluffies, the foals followed happily. Gloria tried her best to keep her tears back as she pretended they were all flyin ginside the box, and how they were going ‘so high!’

After a few moments more of pretend Flying, GLoria set the box down and prepped the machine. Normally when someone wanted their Fluffy put down humanly, they would bring them in and we would give them a syringe filled with pentobarbital, a seizure inducing medicine that renders the Fluffy unconscious and causes the Brain and Heart to stop functioning.

But for such a large amount of Fluffies, they used a larger machine. A two gas system that would do similar things for the Fluffies, originally designed for Piglets, the box was now decorated and covered glow in the dark stickers, something that would actually help foals during the sad process, as they drifted off into sleep, they would look up into the dark, and see stars…

The Compartment was padded and even had a few toys inside so the foals wouldn’t get bored… But it would never take long. Gloria hated the fact that their was a window on the side of the box, to make sure they were all dead before opening the box and introducing Oxygen back into the compartment.

Gloria started with the Adults first, Buddy and Plum. After hugging them deeply, and reasuring them that the compartment wasn’t a sorry-box, that they finally went in. As Gloria closed the top of the compartment, Plum and Buddy shared a finale conversation. One that even Gloria wouldn’t be able to hear.

“Pwum? 'ou think Mummah Gwowia knows that we know that dis am dah nice foweba sweepies boxie?” Buddy said, hugging up to his special friend, a final time. “Nu… Pwum think that Mummah Gwowia thinks we think we goin’ home wiff hew… an’ that she twied to twick us… Not bad twick, buh gud twick…” Plum says, slowly succumbing to the Nitrous Oxide being pumped into the box. Slowly, Plum drifted off to forever sleepies, mumbling about loving Buddy. Buddy stayed awake for a moment longer, only to see Gloria thru the window trying to hide tears… “w-wub… 'ou-…” Buddy succumbed to the gas, peacefully falling under, before the Carbon Dioxide was pumped, suffocating the Fluffies in their gas induced sleep.

Gloria took the two to and placed them together into a box, so that they would be buried together.

Next were Roscoe and Midas. Gloria gave a similar hug to the two fluffies, both so happy to be given such a loving hug, and were placed into the colorful compartment. Another conversation would be had, and another that Gloria would not hear.

“Do Midas think about owd babbehs?” asked Roscoe, surprising Midas. “Of couwse! Midas miss aww owd babbehs… Buh Midas know that dey am in god homesies, an’ hab gud Mummahs an’ Daddehs… Why Woscoe ask?”

“Just miss Babbehs is aww… Dont tink Woscoe wan’ mowe babbehs…” Roscoe said, feeling the first gas take effect. Midas, now a bit loopy and now feeling the gas as well took a second to realize what Roscoe meant. “W-weww… Dat otay, nu nee’ mowe babbehs, buh when Woscoe am weady again, Midas wiww be watin’-… Cus-… Cus Midas w-…wu-… wubs 'o-ou…” Midas finished, not realizing the gas had caused Roscoe to fall under moments before she heard the loving understanding Midas tried to share. The gas, now completing its duty let the two fall together, letting them enjoy the love they shared thru life, and now forever sleep.

Again Gloria took the two out and placed them together in a small burial box. setting them next to their friends…

Now was the hardest part… Gloria had picked up One, Two, Three, Four, Five, and Six, placing them in all at once, not before giving the same loving hug. Once they were all done giggling and thanking her, Gloria placed them into the compartment. Thankfully, the foals were thoroughly distracted by the toys and each other to not even notice the gas causing them to fall asleep. But one word would ring thru the foals ears and heats as they drifted off, staring into the illusionary, shining, stars above them…

“Pwetty… W-wub… coo…”

Gloria pulled the foals out after the deed had been done and placed them together in their own box, not wanting to separate the siblings…

Finally was Sky, Blue, and Pinkie… Gloria felt her heart break again as Pinkie began to hug into her for their group hug, Sky and Blue were hugging as well, but the young Pinkie was just so much more… Honest.

Setting the Fluffies in the compartment together, Sky and Blue hugged, glad to be together, thinking that this was the final trial before they would get to go to a loving home.

Pinkie on the other hand stood right at the window… He stared at Gloria the entire time… Even as his Sister and Brother succumbed to the sleep inducing gas, not until he himself had fallen under… The last thing Pinkie saw was Gloria… Fully thining that he was going to go home with her…

Gloria finally broke down after Pinkie closed his eyes for the last time…

The only respite from this horrid endeavor, as the fact that they were given the best way out… The only way out…

Gloria hoped she was right to do this…

Gloria took the Fluffies home, and buried them in her backyard, so that they would always be close.

After all, She was their for them thru the worst and the best, and even death would have to do much worse to keep her babies away from her…
