I don’t intend to do anything else with this fluffy. I just saw that phrase from Velveteen Rabbit somewhere and decided to turn it into art.
Bummer Backstory
She was bought by an idiot trying to get into breeding fluffies. She was only a foal and not old enough to have a litter yet, but the dumb human was impatient. The litter that they inseminated with were all born too soon and didn’t survive. Frustrated, the owner gave her to his kid to play with. The kid wasn’t gentle and got annoyed with her continual crying and catatonic state, so they just left her outside by the dumpster near their house.
But just as night began to fall, a passer-by heard the broken peeps of a fluffy that had reverted to its “chirpy” state…
With a lot of medication, fluids, and sadly necessary amputation surgeries and spaying, Hope started to become a fluffy again. It wasn’t until she was brought to her new home, however, that she began to thrive.
Despite having reverted more or less to “chirpy”, Hope was re-trained to use a litter box (mostly). With physical therapy and patience, she learned to walk on three legs. She only has one eye, but that doesn’t keep her from observing her world with wonder. Cute little hats help cover her broken horn and removed ear.
She never regained her ability to speak, but her little button pad with the carrying handle helps her express herself just fine.
