Topsy opened his eyes at last.
From the very onset of his conscious senses, he suspected something was dreadfully wrong with the life he was born into, though he lacked the presence of thought to understand why. Why did his body feel so awful? Why was the air he breathed so foul?
He opened his eyes and gleaned his answers all at once. He should have kept them closed.
The shock was enough to draw his first words.
