Idk, some humans too can have mental regression on cases of extreme traumatic situations, including calling for their mothers, it is actually quite disturbing seeing it

there could be multiple reasons that could be explained by factors outside of the story. honestly, not worth speculating. people tend to make a lot of decisions that could seem unreasonable to observers like we are. that if she is moved by reason in the first place
