Chapter 2: Fluffies in the wild.
- Poopies n gwound wawa mak Fwuffy nu smeww n wook pwetty, bu awso mak munstah gu way.
- Munstahs wike com outsies in darkie times. Fwuffies nee tu hidesie in nestie.
- Woud noises mak munstah com tu Fwuffies.
- Betta tu sa sowwi den gib n get hurties.
- Gud mummahs wuv aww babbehs.
- Hoomans ar scawy munstahs.
These were just some of the lessons that Uphie’s bestest fwen, Sanny, had taught her, and in the past three weeks she had truly taken them to heart. The realization that her mantra was wrong and that she was on her own had served as a sort of wake up call for Uphie, allowing her to mature somewhat and step up. It could not have come at a better time, as instead of cowering helplessly inside her den, Uphie found the strength of will to venture out and scavenge nummies to provide for her babbehs, but it was still very tough and within these three weeks, Uphie had lost of five of her nine foals.
Two were stillbirths, dead from the moment they had exited the womb.
One died of asphyxiation. Poopies n gwound wawa mak munstah go away, but Uphie forgot how delicate babbehs were and she ended up killing one as she buried it in feces and mud.
One died for being too loud. On one of the darkie times, one of Uphie’s foals began chirping incessantly and no matter how much Uphie pleaded it would not stop. Uphie panicked and tried to covered its mouth. She ended up accidentally crushing the foal’s head between her hooves.
One died of starvation and neglect. Gud mummahs wuv aww babbehs, but there was just something creepy about a babbeh with a pointy thing and wingies. As such, the creepy babbeh found itself always being fed last and never being given enough milk. It would die the slow painful death of starvation, neglected by a parent who was too freaked out by it, and Uphie only realized the error of her actions when it had passed away.
The death of each foal weighed heavily in her heart, and though two did not die of her doing, each served as permanent reminder of her failings as a parent. It eroded her sanity and sometimes she just wanted to run away and find forever sleepies, but she just couldn’t do it, it was not fair to the foals that survived. She was no longer living for herself, she was living because her babbehs needed her. She needed to stay positive and stay alive, as there were still four bundles of joy that depended on her.
She sat on her rump and stared at the remaining four foals with pride. All four looked so cute now, unlike when they were born, as cute as the foals in her old herd. She would have said that they were even as cute as the foals on the TV, but it was hard to really believe that with how dirty and smelly her babbehs were. That being said, she would rather have dirty and smelly foals than no foals at all, and as far as she was concerned she would choose her four over the foals on the TV any day, as these were her babbehs.
“Mwikie twimes” she called out with a smile.
She could not help but giggle at the cute sight of her four foals excitedly scampering towards her for their much beloved milky time. However, she noticed that one of her foals was not following her predetermined order and quickly yet gently admonished him .
“Nut yet Bwue babbeh. Nee wet Bestest babbeh and Odah bestest dwink miwkie firstest, den is Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh tun for miwkies.”
The light-blue foal could only make a sad whimper in protest before apologizing to his mummah and stepping aside to let his sibling feed first.
The Bestest stepped forward with a smile, proudly stating that she “wub mummah!” before scampering to her mummah’s teat for milkies. Uphie giggled with joy as response and admired her Bestest babbeh. The foal was so cute, and she was the bestest for so many reasons:
- Bestest babbeh was a wingie Fwuffy much like herself
- Bestest babbeh had a blonde mane and tail much like herself
- Bestest babbeh had yellow see places much like herself
- Bestest babbeh had light brown fur much like her specaw fwen
- Bestest babbeh smelled better because her brown fur meant less poopies.
- Bestest babbeh was the first talkie babbeh, so she had to be the smartest.
Odah bestest was loved by Uphie mainly due to fur color, as the Fluffy was an Earthie and the last of the four babbehs to talk. However, he had black fur much like Sanny and her mummah’s hair, and that was enough for Odah bestest to hold a special place in Uphie’s heart.
That was not to say that Uphie did not love her two other foals. The light-blue Earthie and the dark-green Pegasus foal, both filled her with pride, joy and love. It was just not as much as her other two., and though she remembered Sanny telling her to always love all babbehs equally, it was hard not to have preferences for the one who shared traits with her or her close Fluffy fwens.
After milky time was finished and all four of her foals had their fill, Uphie decided that it was time to leave. The den was still pretty safe and warm, and she still had somes nummies around, but Uphie still had her old plan of returning home to her mummah and safe room, and frankly she could not wait any longer. She still yearned for Song time, her castle bed, her toys and all that good food, and wanted her foals to experience such happiness as well, but she had also come to realize that her previous plan was flawed.
She realized that she probably hurt her mummah a lot. Forced to survive on her own these past three weeks, without Special Fwen or Sanny to rely on, had made her understand how reliant she was on those three, especially her mummah who had given her such a nice home, tasty food and so many toys. She figured that an apology was in order. A heartfelt sorry to show that she knew how much her mummah gave her, and if that was not enough, she figured she could beg a little bit, but she knew her mummah was a nice person, so she would probably welcome Uphie back after an apology and after Uphie showed her foals.
The only other problem was that Uphie had absolutely no idea how to get back home. It had been so long since she ran away, back after the cold days had passed and the trees were green, and Uphie never really kept track of where she was going and frankly everything looked the same to her. Yet somehow she was still confident that she would get back home. She decided just to walk one direction and just keep walking that way, figuring eventually she would reach home or at least someone who knew how to get home.
“Oke babbehs. Iz tim tu gu fo wong walkies n fin mummah’s mummah” she announced, as she helped the four foals climb onto her back.
Once she was sure that all four were secure on her back, she slowly climbed out of the den and began her great adventure. She decided to walk in the direction away from that bright light in the sky, while her babies looked around in awe. This was their first time outside and their were absolutely astounded. The green grass in every direction, the tall trees with their leaves of bright colors, the big blue sky and the sound of birds chirping, water flowing, the leaves rustling in the leave, and the refreshing smell of fresh air unlike their stench of their waste filled den. It was a feast for all the senses and the foals were loving every second of it.
Such sights would keep Uphie and her foals sufficiently entertained for a few hours, as Uphie continued walking in one direction with singular purpose. Her foals were rather quiet the whole time, though her bestest did try to chirp loudly to mimic the birds, but promptly kept silent after being scolded. Regardless the walk would prove to be uneventful and the only reason Uphie had stopped was because she had gotten tired and her babbehs were hungry.
Like Specaw Fwen and Sanny always taught her, she looked around for somewhere to hide and found a nice little berry bush to hide from the rest of the world. She gently placed her foals off her back and helped them crawl inside the bush before wriggling inside herself. She rested amongst the sticks and ate the tasty berries sticking out, and let her four foals drink their milkies as she hummed the song her mummah would sing to her during Song time.
Uphie loved this. Going out on an adventure with her babies, showing them the beauty of outside, being a good mummah who protected and fed them, and the prospect that every step led her closer and closer to her own mummah and her real home. She rested on a branch with a big smile on her face and after she had enough rest, she crawled back out of the bush, helped her foals onto her back and continued her adventure. She looked forward with a big smile, and in the distance she saw one of those small, orange barkie munstah.
Her see places widened in fear. It had been the first time she saw a munstah in a while and it took all her strength to stifle her scream. The munstah did not seem to notice her, so like Sanny had taught her, she began to back away slowly and silently, maintaining eye contact with the munstah at all times, but she had forgotten to take into account that her foals could see the munstah too, and when Odah bestest saw the munstah, it began to chirp in fear, causing Gweenie babbeh and Bwue babbeh to chirp in fear as well.
Uphie begged her babies to be quiet, but as she notice the munstah walk in her direction and disappear from view, she began to panic and scream. She turned around and bolted as fast as her stumpy legs could carry her, running as fast as she possibly could. She could imagine the munstah right behind her, she could imagine it’s sharp teeth and snarling ground. She tried to run faster, as she imagine the munstah right at her tail. She kept running until she saw a safe spot between the roots of a large tree, and quickly crawled underneath.
She positioned herself as far from the entrance as possible, maintaining constant eye contact with the entrance at all times. She held her breath and tensed her muscles, waiting for the munstah to come, but nothing did and eventually she was able to relax. She took a couple of deep breaths and rested her see places for a bit, until she heard the sound of her babies chirping. She opened her see places in anger.
“Babbehs com dow NAO!” She shouted angrily.
She felt her foals get off her back and glared at them one by one. Bestest babbeh, Gweenie babbeh and Bwue babbeh, and then it hit her, Odah babbeh was missing. She quickly looked around her hiding spot for any sign of Odah bestest, and when she could not find him there, she scrambled out of the roots and looked around. She could not see her missing baby and with no idea where she had come from, she would realized that she one again lost another foal. Feeling hopeless despair, she charged inside the hiding hole and glared at her three remaining foals.
“Y dummeh babbehs mak noisie! Mummah say noisie mak munstah com!”
Her Bestest babbeh looked at her with offense “Bestest nu mak noisie am nu dummeh babbeh!”
Uphie looked at her Bestest babbeh with surprised, astonished by her boldness, then stared at her two other babies, and noticed both of them looking down in shame.
“Yu!” she scream “Dummeh Bwue babbeh! Dummeh Gweenie babbeh! Cawse yu mak woud noisie, munstah gib chasies n Odah bestest gun! Dummeh babbehs!”
Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh began to cry, but this only made Uphie angrier.
“Staph cwying! Yu mak noisie, now Odah bestest gon. Iz aww yu faut! SHAT UP DUMMEH BABBEHS!”
Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh immediately fell silent when their mummah told them to shut up. Both of the foals looked at her with horror as they began to piss themselves, filling Uphie with regret. She began to apologize to her two babies, begging for their forgiveness, but all she could see was the terror in their see places, and she covered her face in shame. She began to cry, muttering sorry over and over again, until she felt the warmth of her three foals nuzzling against her, and whispering that it was okay as they tried to hug her as tight as possible. She looked at her three foals with love in her see places and gave all three a big squeeze, as she told them how sorry she was and how she was being a meanie dummeh. The mare and her three foals would spend the night hiding under that tree and repairing their damaged relationship.
The next morning, Uphie crawled out of her hiding hole with her Bestest babbeh on her back. Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh walked beside her. She had forgiven them and they had forgiven her, but at the same time part of her still blamed them for the loss of Odah bestest. She felt the need to punish them by making them walk on their own for a while, feeling that they needed to earn her trust again, before she would carry them again. Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh walked on her left side, with both looking down in shame. Meanwhile, Bestest babbeh looked proudly at his sibling, grinning at the two with a mean, smug smile, making the two punished foals feel all the more worse.
It was another sunny day and the forest was calm, but the only Fluffy to appreciate their surroundings was Bestest babbeh, enjoying all the pretty, sparkly colors as she laid comfortably on her mummah’s back. In contrast, Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh were miserable and slowly getting tired, yet both foals only able to keep their heads down in shame. Meanwhile, Uphie wandered the forest quickly and aimlessly. She needed to make use of the bright light to quickly find Oddah bestest, as he was probably scared, hungry and confused.
She moved around the forest with desperate purpose. Walking quickly and constantly changing directions without a word, as she scanned her surroundings for Oddah bestest. Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh who were still not used to walking, found the task all the more difficult as they practically had to run just to maintain pace with their mummah, and it would throw them off whenever she changed direction, with the foals panicking whenever their momentarily lost sight of their mummah, only to realize that their mummah was nearby and having to sprint to catch up to her. Uphie paid no notice to her two struggling foals, with all her attention focused on finding Oddah bestest.
The longer they walked the harder it was for Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh to keep up. Neither were use to walking that much, nor this intensely, and it did not help that mummah did not seem to care about them. Bwue babbeh, desperate to regain mummah’s love, tried to stay strong and ignore the pain in his leggies, as he tired to keep up with mummah, but Gweenie babbeh would eventually break and collapsed on the ground as she succumbed to the pain. She started to cry.
“Y mummah nu cawe bout babbeh! Gweenie babbeh su tiwed!” Gweenie babbeh wailed.
Uphie looked back at her baby in shocked confusion, and began to panic as he was making so much noise.
“Shush Gweenie babbeh. Babbeh mak tu muchie noisie”.
Uphie rushed to her baby and picked up the crying foal. She gently nuzzled Gweenie babbeh as she tried to calm her baby. She was initially unsure where this outburst had come from, but as she looked at Bwue babbeh and how tired he looked, it finally occurred to Uphie that she had made two foals walk too much. Feeling that she had pushed her two foals too far, she decided it was time to properly forgive them and let them rest on her back.
She helped them up her back and the two foals let out sighs of relief, happy that their arduous walk was finally over. The two foals collapsed on each other, forming a small fluff pile as they rested. Bestest babbeh was unhappy about suddenly losing all that space she had to herself and was about to complain, until she heard a complaint from mummah about how Gweenie babbeh was a bad babbeh because she was always too noisy. This prompted a faint whimper from Gweenie babbeh, and caused Bestest babbeh to keep quiet, as she did not want to be scolded by mummah as well.
Uphie herself was deeply troubled. She had wandered the forest quite a lot and still had not seen Oddah bestest. She was tired and hungry and she figured her babbehs were hungry too, but she did not want to rest, as she knew Oddah bestest was scared and hungry, and she was also scared that she would lose the bright times light. At the same time, she had kind of lost hope. The loss of five other foals, had made the loss of a sixth a lot less impactful, and the only reason she was still looking, was because it was Oddah bestest.
She decided to continue looking and spent a few more hours aimlessly wandering the forest, only stopping because she gotten too tired to continue walking. She would find a nice spot to rest, a den hidden under some small rocks. It was a tight squeeze to get in and it was quite dark inside, but it did make Uphie feel somewhat safe, allowing the mare to relax a bit as she processed the lost of yet another foal. She tried not to cry, to stay strong for her last three foals, but it was too much and she began wailing, crying what a terrible mother she was. Her babbehs began hugging her to make her feel better and Bestest babbeh even did a little dance. She was glad she still had three babies. She was glad she still had Bestest babbeh, but the lost of Oddah bestest was still sad.
Uphie would spend a few days in that den. She deeply regretted leaving her original nest under the tree and now she had difficulty leaving this small cave. It felt colder and it was a lot tighter than the original nest, but it was better than being outdoors and better than losing another foal, especially her bestest. She had also reverted to her more frightened self, terrified to go outside and only venturing form the nest long enough to get nummies, before quickly scampering back.
The original goal of finding mummah and home was still in her mind, but she had begun to wonder if she would ever make it. She did not know where home was or how long it would take her to reach home if she walked in one direction. More importantly, she wondered how many babbehs she would lose before she finally reached home. Uphie imagined returning home without any foals and felt that her mummah would just reject her if she came back without babbehs. She wondered if she should find another special friend to make more babbehs with, but that thought just made her sad and miss Specaw Fwen even more. Instead, she looked at her last three babies and resolved to protect them with her life, especially Bestest babbeh.
Another few days had passed and by now it had gotten quite cold. Long enough that her babbehs could now eat nummies instead of milkies. It was getting hard to find nummies now and even though she was in her nestie, she was getting so many coldie hurties. This morning she had such difficulty waking up Gweenie babbeh that she thought Gweenie babbeh had forever sleepies. That was such a scare, and it served as a sign that she needed to find a new nesties. She needed to find somewhere safe and warm, and she needed to find it soon.
Once again, Uphie found herself wandering the forest with her foals, but this time it was a lot less magical. All the colorful leaves had fallen, leaving the trees with only bare branches, and the grass had turned into an unappealing brownish-yellow, whilst the sky was now an ominous grey. For Uphie and her foals, the change to the forest was terrifying. The lively forest was gone and now all she could see were the scary trees with their long, spindly branches and the feeling of being surrounded by death.
The journey itself was difficult. Without the motivation of pretty sights, she could only focus on her woes and misery. It was cold and her fur was barely enough to keep her warm. She could imagine how cold her babies were feeling, which made her all the more desperate to find a safe, warm home. The wind itself had turned against the Fluffies. It was no longer a gentle breeze, but a harsh wind that sent painful chill all across Uphie’s body, every time it blew pass, and one that would cause her foals to chirp constantly in distress, which only served to fuel her desperation of finding somewhere safe and warm.
This desperation slowly eroded her sanity, and her willpower waned at the constant thought that she would never find a warm, safe place, and her foals would get forever sleepies due to coldie owwies. She was tired and hungry, but too scared to stop moving, as she feared that stopping would lead to her babies passing away, so she endured the pain, as her body grew colder and colder. However, her hooves were start to hurt, and she looked around, it occurred to her that she had absolutely no idea where she was and where she was going. In defeat she laid down on the ground and started to cry.
“Y mummah cwying?” came a soft voice from one of her foals.
She turned around to look at the foals on her back, and saw her Bestest babbeh staring at her with big yellow see places, a look of worry on the foal’s face. It brought a smile to her face, and she giggled when Bestest babbeh started nuzzling her.
“Am sowwi Bestest babbeh. Mummah jus tiwed, bu Bestest babbeh mak mummah feww bettah”
Bestest babbeh made a happy little chirp, but she was shivering, so Uphie sent the foal to go back to her fluff pile with her siblings. She looked at Gweenie babbeh and Bwue babbeh. Her other two foals were cute, but it annoyed her somewhat that neither tried to comfort her, their struggling mummah. She pouted slightly, feeling that Gweenie babbeh and Bwue babbeh did not appreciate their mummah, unlike Bestest babbeh, which only served to reinforce her notions that Bestest babbeh really was the best.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the distance sound of talking. Uphie instinctively began to follow the noise, believing that warmth and safety could be found there. She walked around a small cliff and in the far distance, between some trees, she could see a lot of bright colors moving. She was also close enough to recognize that the talking was the recognizable sound of Fluffies chattering. Suddenly feeling very excited, she began to walk slightly faster.
As she got closer, Uphie realized that she had found a Fluffy herd, but it was not just a Fluffy herd, it was the biggest Fluffy herd she had ever seen. This was beyond any number she could count, far bigger than her old herd. It was just Fluffies everywhere she looked, and all had such bright and vibrant colors. She stared in awe at all the colors. It was like she was back at home watching Fluffy TV, yet it was also overwhelming.
So many colors, so many smells and so much noises. For a Fluffy who lived quite a while trying to stay as quiet as possible, having to hear so much chatter was a bit too much for her to process, and quite frankly it scared her. Were they not scared of attracting munstahs? After all, she had manged to hear them from so far away. Yet such fears were dismissed in the face of their numbers, as she realized that they probably did not have to fear munstahs because there were so many of them.
Meanwhile, her three foals had woken up and were staring at the mega-herd in awe. They too were feeling overwhelmed, as they had never seen, smelt or heard so many Fluffies in their life and it brought about quite differing set of reactions:
Bestest babbeh was amazed and excited. She stood up on her mummah’s back, looking boldly at the herd, thinking that finally she would have so many new friends to play with. Finally she did not just have to play with mummah and her dummeh siblings anymore. She had the biggest grin as she imagined having a large group of friends.
On the other hand, Bwue babbeh was a little nervous. All the loud chatter was kind of making him scared. He was not used to this much noise, and being screamed by mummah for being noisy had made him somewhat terrified, but he was also quite excited at the prospect of meeting other Fluffies.
And on the complete opposite side, Gweenie babbeh was down-right terrified. This foal had developed a fear of loud sounds due to her mummah, after all her mummah had screamed at her for making too much noise, the loss of Oddah bestest was blamed on her being too noisy and her mummah even called her a bad baby for crying too loud. At this point, Gweenie babbeh had come to believe that all noises were bad, so hearing so much noises was pretty much traumatizing, and the foal begin to curl up like a ball, shivering in fear, while Bwue babbeh tried to calm her down.
Bwue babbeh looked at his mummah for support, wondering if he should tell mummah that Gweenie babbeh was scared, but the foal began to hesitate. He had started to believe that mummah did not care about them, she only cared about Bestest babbeh, and probably thought that Gweenie babbeh and he were bad babbehs that made her lose Oddah bestest. He looked at his mummah, talking to Bestest babbeh excitedly and looked down in defeat. He turned back to Gweenie babbeh and nuzzled her in an attempt to calm her down.
“Nu cwy sistah. Bwuddah am hewe”.
Gweenie babbeh looked at her brother with a thankful smile and nuzzled him back. She closed her see places, focusing on limited warmth emitting from Bwue babbeh and trying to block out all the loud noises.
“Tank yu bwuddah” she whispered.
Uphie turned around and noticed Gweenie babbeh looking terrified on her back. She quickly helped her foals off her back and picked up Gweenie babbeh in a panic.
“Wat wong Gweenie babbeh. Y babbeh cwying?”
Gweenie babbeh looked at her terrified and muttered how it was too loud, which caused Uphie to give her a weird look and laugh.
“Siwwy babbeh am onwy oddah Fwuffies. Nu nee bee scawed.”
Gweenie babbeh’s terror turned to confusion, not really sure why this loud noise was okay, but she finally began to calm down as mummah made soft cooing noises.
“Wub mummah” Gweenie babbeh chirped softly.
Uphie smiled and begin to giggle “Mummah wub Gweenie babbeh” she said in response.
Uphie giggled and looked at Gweenie babbeh with pride. She felt this foal was a little weird, and sometimes a little too noisy, and she was always crying, unlike Bestest babbeh, but she was still her baby and Uphie loved her all the same. She continued making soft cooing noises as she gently rocked Gweenie babbeh side to side, and looked to her other two foals. Bestest babbeh was looking at the mega herd, begging mummah to hurry up, as she wanted to make new friends. However, Bwue babbeh was giving her a strange look. He was pouting and he looked upset.
“Wat wong Bwue babbeh?” She asked curiously.
“Y mummah nu angwy?!” He replied angrily
“W… Wut? Y mummah nee be angwy?”
“Mummah aways sae tu many woud noisie am bad! Bu nu cawe abo aww woud noisie nao?!”
Uphie looked at her Bwue babbeh in confusion, unable to understand what he was so angry about, sure she had always told her foals how important it was to be quiet, but this was different. She was also getting a little irritated. How dare her foal shout at her. Did he not realize how much his mummah suffered to keep him safe? How dare he act like a bad babbeh and shout at his muummah.
“Y Bwue babbeh shoutie at mummah? Y Bwue babbeh act like bad babbeh?!”
Bwue babbeh looked at her in disbelief and she could see the horror in his see places at being called a bad babbeh, but that horror quickly turned into anger, and in rage Bwue babbeh suddenly called Uphie a dummeh mummah before running off. Uphie looked at Bwue babbeh in shock, not yet able to process what just happened, but her confusion turned into anger, and she began to give chase. However, she had forgotten that she was still holding Gweenie babbeh and suddenly dropped her, causing the foal to cry again. This left her in a panic as she tried to figure out what to do: Calm down Gweenie babbeh or chase her bad babbeh Bwue? She looked to Bestest babbeh for help.
“Bestest! Gu git dummeh bwuddah Bwue!” she ordered.
Bestest nodded and quickly gave chase, while Uphie quickly picked up Gweenie babbeh and rocked the foal back and forth. She sighed and gave Gweenie babbeh a frustrated look.
“Gweenie babbeh cwy tu much” She commented “Gweenie babbeh shu be qwiet n stron babbeh wike Bestest babbeh n mak less twouble fu mummah”
Gweenie babbeh looked at her mummah with guilt. She nodded quietly as she tried her best to stop crying. It hurt hearing these comments and comparisons, but she loved mummah and only wanted to make proud.
“G… Gweenie babbeh… Gweenie babbeh twy mummah” she stated weakly.
Uphie smiled and nuzzled Gweenie babbeh
“Gud babbeh Gweenie” she stated softly, filling Gweenie babbeh with a warm pride.
It took Gweenie babbeh a few more seconds to finally stop all the tears, and once Uphie was sure that her foal was okay, she put Gweenie babbeh down and told her baby to follow. It was time to find and punish Bwue babbeh. She stomped her hooves and made an angry pout, as she marched in the direction that her two other babbehs had run off too, and she would find her two foals fighting, causing her to panic.
“Nu! Nu! Babbehs nu fight!”
Bwue babbeh looked at her in fear, which was just enough of a distraction to allow Bestest babbeh to land a solid kick to his face. One that sent Bwue babbeh tumbling on the ground. Uphie quickly got in between the two foals to stop any further fighting. She noticed Bestest babbeh looking proud, as Bwue babbeh laid on the floor crying and thought about lecturing Bestest babbeh about hurting her brother, but she was still upset at Bwue babbeh for calling her a dummeh mummah, and had to admit it felt good seeing her Bestest babbeh defending her mummah. She turned to Bestest babbeh and nuzzled her.
“Gud Bestest babbeh” she whispered, filling Bestest babbeh with pride.
She then turned to Bwue babbeh and looked at him coldly, causing Bwue babbeh to cry even harder.
“Nu cwy Bwue babbeh. Dis am yu fauwt fow cawwing mummah a dummeh.”
Bwue babbeh looked at his mummah with betrayal in his see places, but this betrayal quickly changed to defeat and he began to wail in absolute despair.
“Am sowwi mummah! Bwue babbeh sowwi! Am onwy wittle babbeh. Nu mean tu caww mummah dummeh!”
Seeing her foal apologize so hard, melted her heart and she sighed in satisfaction, believing that her foal had been punished enough. She approached Bwue babbeh and picked him up. The foal was shivering and looked absolutely terrified of her, but he began to calm down as she rocked him back and forth and sang that song from Song time.
“Iz oke. Mummah forgib yu. Iz oke Bwue babbeh”
Bwue babbeh kept muttering sorry over and over again, in between hiccups and weak whimpers, yet he was feeling better. His mummah was finally paying some attention to him after all, but their moment together was ruined by Bestest babbeh who had gotten jealous and wanted some attention from her mummah. Uphie picked up all three and cuddled them.
“Uwpee wub aww babbehs” she said with glee, prompting all three of her foals to chirp merrily and whisper back that they “wub mummah”, prompting satisfied giggles from the mare.
With these family matters settled, Uphie could now focus on the large herd and had decided that it was time to approach them. She was still quite nervous about meeting so many Fluffies after being alone for quite a while, but she was also cold, hungry and tired and this seemed to be her best chance for safety and warmth. She helped all three get on her back and assured them not to be scared, trying to assure herself at the same time that everything was going to be okay as they started getting very close to the herd.
Some Fluffies had notice her presence and broke out of the march to meet her. Uphie could not help but be amazed by their vibrant colors. There was a Fluffy with white fur and black mane & tail, a Pointy Fluffy with orange fur and a light-blue mane & tail, and another Pointy Fluffy with light green fur and a yellow mane & tail. Three adult Fluffies who looked quite clean and quite curious. They all gazed at her intently, inspecting her from head to tail. She looked back at them, feeling vulnerable and nervous under their gaze.
“Nyu Fwuffy?” The white Fluffy suddenly interjected, breaking the awkward silence.
The orange Pointy Fluffy approached her and began to sniff her, before backing away in disgust.
“Nyu Fwuffy smeww wike poopies. Iz poopie Fwuffy!” the orange Fluffy exclaimed in surprise.
Uphie looked at the orange Fluffy in stunned silence. She did not expect some random Fluffy to just walk up and insult her. She was going to retort, but was interrupted by angry screeches from Bestest babbeh.
“Nu caww mummah poopie Fwuffy, Dummeh Fwuffy!” Bestest babbeh screamed.
Uphie was touched that her Bestest babbeh was so quick to defend her, but realize that it might not have been the best move when she noticed the orange Fluffy looking at Bestest babbeh angrily.
“Wat dummeh babbeh caww Enegwy?! ” the orange Pointy Fluffy shouted.
“Dun caww Bestest babbeh dummeh babbeh!” Bestest babbeh retorted.
The orange Pointy Fluffy pouted and stomped his hooves angrily “Dummeh babbeh wan wostest owwies?!”
Uphie quickly stood in front of the orange Fluffy and was thinking about standing her ground, but she noticed the other two Fluffies looking hostile as well, and she was quick to remember what Sanny told her so long ago. That it was better to not fight. She remember what Sanny told her to do and quickly knelt down with her head to the ground
“Sowwi!” She exclaimed “Uwpee sowwi. Bestest babbeh nu mean tu caww Fwuffy dummeh. Owange Fwuffy am nut Dummeh Fwuffy.”
Uphie quickly got Bestest off her back and forced her to bow, ordering her to apologized. Bestest babbeh looked at her mummah in disbelief, but swallowed her pride and apologized. The orange Fluffy was surprised by the sudden turn of events, but quickly smiled and lifted his head, beaming with pride, more than satisfied by the apology.
“Dat wight! Enegwy am nut Dummeh Fwuffy!” The orange Fluffy said with a big grin.
Uphie noticed that the other two Fluffies were also looking friendly again and sighed in relief, though she also noticed Bestest babbeh looking at her angrily.
Suddenly the green Pointy Fluffy got really close and began to sniff her. The green Fluffy then began to remove some of the twigs and bat away at some of the dirt and poopies, revealing her beige fur, causing the other two Fluffies to look surprised.
“Huh?! Nut poopie Fwuffy?!” the white Fluffy exclaimed in confusion.
“Iz just diwty Fwuffy” the orange Fluffy chimed in.
The three Fluffies begin giggling as Uphie looked down in embarrassment. She looked at Bestest babbeh and noticed that she still looked sour, so she nuzzled Bestest babbeh.
“Sowwi babbeh, bu Fwuffy nee be smawt n sometwime sae sowwi. Bestest am smawt fo sae sowwi” she stated calmly.
That was more than enough to lift up Bestest babbeh’s spirits and she began chirping merrily. Uphie smiled happily, but noticed the other three Fluffies giving her weird looks. The green Pointy Fluffy began to remove sticks and dirt from a rather tense Bestest babbeh, but that did not stop the three Fluffies from giving her weird looks.
“Y iz poopie babbeh Bestest babbeh?” The green Fluffy asked curiously.
Uphie and Bestest babbeh looked at the green Fluffy with offense.
“Bestest babbeh iz nut poopie babbeh?!” Uphie quickly exclaimed.
The other two Fluffies inspected Gween babbeh and Bwue babbeh. There bright colors were somewhat masked by the dirt, sticks and leaves, but still somewhat visible. They gave Uphie incredulous looks, unable to understand why the brown foal was the bestest when she had a green foal and most especially a light blue foal, but neither said anything, thinking that she was just a weird, dirty Fluffy. The green Fluffy continued to look at her curiously, but then smiled.
“Am Mewon!” the green Fluffy stated with a kind smile.
Hearing his friendly introduction, Uphie relaxed and smiled back “Am Uwpee!” she exclaimed gleefully.
The orange Fluffy would introduce himself as Enegwy and the white Fluffy would introduce herself as Bwirch, and with the exchange of names, the mood became a lot more friendlier. Mewon offered to introduce Uphie to the herd, while Enegwy bounced around, asking Uphie to be her new friend, and Bwirch offered to carry Bwue Babbeh, calling him cute. Being surrounded by so many nice Fluffies, reminded Uphie of her old herd and tear began to fall.
“Uwpee cwying!? Uwpee haz huwties!?” Mewon exclaimed in a panic.
Uphie shook her head with a smile. “Nuu. Uwpee jus haz so manee heawt happies. Uwpee bee awone fo suu wong n Uphie thot wud git fowebah sweepies fom coldie owwies… N… N…”
Uphie turned into a blubbering mess as she broke down into a full sob. She felt a wave of emotions overcome her. Happiness that she had found other Fluffies, relief that she had found a place full of warmth and safety, yet also a sadness as she remembered her old herd, Specaw Fwen and Sanny, and the reminder that she would never see them again. Seeing the mare breakdown in tear, activated the hug instincts of the other Fluffies, and they began to surround her, ignoring their discomfort toward her unappealing form, as they wrapped around her and gave her a warm hug.
Her foals would join in to, with all three pressing their small bodies against their mummah. Surrounded by so many Fluffies, Uphie could only feel safe and warm. All the fear and nervousness she had before was gone, and she felt ready to meet the new herd.
Integration was easy. Thanks to Mewon, Enegwy and Bwirch, Uphie was quickly welcomed by many other Fluffies, learning a lot of new names, faces and smells. Thanks to the trio, Uphie also learnt a lot about the herd’s history. She learned that they all came from some very big house. A really, really big house that held many, many Fluffies. They talked about how there was so many Fluffies, but not enough space, everything was cramped and there was so much fighting over nests and nummies.
They talked about how the Fluffies would form groups under Smartys and Toughies leading them. The Smartys and Toughies of different groups began fighting. Fluffies began fighting other Fluffies. There was never enough nummies. There was not enough spaces. Fluffies were getting sickies. They talked about how so many Fluffies had forever sleepies. Then one day there was a really loud and scary noise and bright light. Many Fluffies got forever sleepies from the loud noise and btight lights, but suddenly there was a new door.
Mewon talked about how everyone was so confused and scared, but soon all the Fluffies began scrambling out of the new door. They found themselves outside. It was cold and everything looked so different, but they were finally free. They ran in all directions yet many would stick to their herds and they just kept running. Uphie felt that she could relate to their story somewhat. She could remembered feeling the same way when she escaped home. Scared, confused, overwhelmed yet she knew she had to keep running.
Uphie then talked about her own past and found that many Fluffies were interested in her story. The Fluffies had never had a hoomin mummah or daddeh. They talked about how nummies would just magically appear at certain times and how their poopies would disappear at a certain spot. The only time they saw hoomins was when the new door appeared, so hearing a tale about how Uphie had a hoomin mummah, certainly filled them with shock and awe. Uphie’s babbehs were equally as amazed, as their mummah never really talked about home.
The more Uphie talked about her past, the more intrigued the Fluffies became. They looked at her with amazement and envy, as she talked about her loving mummah, her nice safe room and all her nummies and toys. They understood her feelings, when she said that she wanted babbehs. They were horrified when she told them about her mummah turning into a munstah that gave her hurties. They respected her when she told them how she escaped, stacking pillows to climb over the fence in her safe room, squeezing through the gap in the door, and running through the small door in the door, and then running out across the grassy green field. Her babbehs looked at her with amazement. They had never heard this story and it astounded them how much their mummah wanted to have babbehs. To have them.
She told them how she almost immediately met her first Fluffy friend, Sanny, and how it was just her and Sanny for a long time. She told them of all the adventures she had with Sanny and how Sanny taught her so much, then they met Sanny’s herd, giving Uphie so many nyu fwens. The other Fluffies listened intently, hanging by her every word. They talked about how they met her special friend, Specaw Fwen, and his herd, and then she talked about the darkie time when she lost almost all of them. Uphie suddenly grew quiet, and the other Fluffies looked at her with worry.
“Uwpee oke?” Mewon asked gently.
Uphie looked at him with surprise as tear fell from her see places. It had been a while since she remembered that traumatic scene. It was a darkie time like any other. Uphie and the herd had made their nest in some cave, hidden amongst bushes and trees. Uphie had already made gud feews with Specaw Fwen, and had just learnt that she had tummy babbehs. Finally after so long, she had the babbehs she wanted and she was so happy. Even though Sanny told her not to make noise, she was just so happy and she just wanted to sing her favorite song. She sang that song that her mummah would sing during Song time.
Some of the other herd members heard her singing and they wanted to join as well. Suddenly a bunch of Fluffies began singing as well. Hearing all the noise, Sanny got angry and told them all to be quiet, but that annoyed some of the Fluffies and they began complaining that Uphie was singing and they were just singing along. They kept arguing and soon more Fluffies joined, some defending Sanny others attacking her. There was so much noise, and then the barkie munstahs attacked. After that it was just screaming, blood and gore. Uphie closed her see places, she could not go on, and the other Fluffies hugged her supportively, as he own foals nuzzled her again.
With such a tragic tale, it was easy for any Fluffy to feel sympathy for her and soon they began treating her as one of their own. They respected and sympathized for her, and some Fluffies realized that she could teach them how to live in the wild. Soon she began teaching some of the Fluffies how to mask their colors and scents. How to identify good nummies and bad nummies. Where to make nesties and what to do when they saw munstahs. It wasn’t long before some Fluffies started treating her like a Smarty leader, but that was when trouble started.
The Smartys who led this herd did not like her. They were supposed to be the smart ones who all the other Fluffies were supposed to depend on, and suddenly this Fluffy just came in and told Fluffies what to do. They did not like that one bit. It was not long before they started arguing with Uphie and her lessons. Why mask our colors and scent? They were not poopie Fluffies, so why should they pretend to be poopie Fluffie? Why are some nummies bad? How can some nummies be bad if they are such nice, bright colors? Why make nesties under trees and rocks, how were they supposed to see the pretty darkie time sky? Why run and hide from munstahs? They were big and strong, so why not stand ground and fight?
It became hard for Uphie to teach the Fluffies. Every lesson was met with arguments and insults from the Smartys. They questioned her logic and they called her a weird Fluffy that liked being a poopie Fluffy., and thought some defended her, most agreed and began to feel that she was speaking nonsense. After all, what Fluffy would willingly make themselves ugly and smelly? What Fluffy would not eat the bright colored food? What Fluffy did not want to sleep under the pretty sky? What Fluffy would just run and hide when they were tough and had big numbers?
Uphie tried to defend herself, but after a few days she stopped arguing. She had enough. She hated hearing the other Fluffies talk badly about all the thing Sanny taught her, and frankly she had gotten scared. The Smartys and their Toughies were violent and aggressive, and more importantly they were loud. Loud enough for other Fluffies to listen and agree. She noticed that many of the Fluffies that once welcomed her, were now giving her weird looks, and some even looked at her with disgust, and that was not the only thing wrong with this herd.
Her old herd was filled with Fluffies that had dark colored furs, and the ones who had bright colors had to cover it with the ground wawa, stickies, leaves and poopies, but in this herd the Fluffies showed their bright colors with pride and the dark colored Fluffies were treated badly. What scared her was the way they were treating the brown colored Fluffies. She already noticed a few of them. Malnourished and forced to eat the poopies and peepee of other Fluffies, especially the Smartys who seemed to take a sick delight in forcing the Fluffies to eat the poopies while giving them enfies. It scared her thinking that such Fluffies were doing the same to Specaw Fwen, if he was still alive, and terrified her that the same might happen to Bestest babbeh.
She could already see the signs. Fluffies admiring her pretty colors, then telling her that she was weird because she called the poopie baby her Bestest babbeh. Foals insulting Bestest babbeh and calling her terrible names related to poopies. It did not help that Bestest babbeh was aggressive, always shouting back and insulting those who insulted her, she even tried to pick a fight with a foal, and this just led to more Fluffies looking down on Bestest babbeh.
What scared her the most was how she slowly felt herself agreeing. With almost every Fluffy telling her that Bestest babbeh was a poopie babbeh, she started to wonder if Bestest really was the best. The Fluffies told her that bright colors were the best Fluffy, like her bright colors and she knew she was one of the best. So if they were wrong, then would that mean that she was not the best? But if they were right, then bestest was not the best, Specaw Fwen was not the best and even Sanny was not the best, but she seemed to be the only one who thought that Bestest babbeh was the best even though she did not have pretty colors. Who was right? Her or all these Fluffies? She wasn’t sure anymore.
That all changed when she found Bestest babbeh and Bwue babbeh fighting. The two foals were screaming at each other. Bwue babbeh was shouting about how Bestest babbeh was not bestest and how Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh were bestest. Naturally, Bestest babbeh was having none of it and screaming back at her siblings. The two were just making loud screeches, as Uphie tried to calm them both down, when Bwue babbeh suddenly called Bestest babbeh a poopie babbeh,
That was enough for Uphie. She was could handle the Smartys, the Toughies, the other Fluffies and other foals calling Bestest babbeh a poopie babbeh, but she would not allow one of her children to be infected by such madness. She raised one of her hooves and smacked Bwue babbeh, knocking the foal to the ground. Bwue babbeh looked at her with fear in his see places, but she glared angrily at Bwue babbeh and snorted, as she stomped one hoof on the ground.
“Nu caww sistah a poopie babbeh!” She declared.
Bwue babbeh continued looking at her with fear and began to cry, but she stood her ground, she continued to glare at Bwue babbeh, as she huffed and puffed. Bestest babbeh clung to her leg and hugged her mummah, she was sobbing faintly but also thanking her mummah for defending her, Uphie snorted again and glared at Bwue babbeh. He was crying, but also kept screaming hatechu ove and over again. Uphie growled, she was not going to take that from her babbeh. She was suddenly going to hit Bwue babbeh again, but suddenly Bwirch got in front of her.
“Nuuuu hurt babbeh! Iz onwy wittle babbeh” Bwirch screamed.
Uphie watched in shock as Bwirch picked up Bwue babbeh and tried to calm him down. Rocking him left and right gently and making cooing noises. This upset her and she quickly grabbed Bwue babbeh.
“Bwue babbeh iz my babbeh!” Uphie screamed.
Bwirch looked at Uphie in surprise but did not protest. She pouted then walked away, as Uphie went back to her own nest, forcing a crying Bwue babbeh to move, as Bestest babbeh followed with a small grin. Inside her nest, she saw Gweenie babbeh watching with absolute silence. There was fear in the foal’s see places, but she did not make a single peep. Uphie suddenly felt guilty. She looked at Bwue babbeh, who was still crying and picked him up. He trembled in her front leggies, and she tried to make up for her actions by soothing him. Rocking him left and right, while making soft cooing noises. Bwue babbeh calmed down, but did not say anything.
“Mummah sowwi Bwue babbeh. Waz suuu angwy. Mummah nu mean tu gib owwies, bu yu nu can caww Bestest babbeh, poopie babbeh.”
Bwue babbeh did not respond. He made soft whimpers, but turned his head away from his mummah. This annoyed Uphie slightly, but she sighed and continued rocking her babbeh left and right. She had enough of all this. She had enough of this stupid herd and their stupid beliefs. They were already starting to change one of her foals, and she was done.
Uphie did not sleep well. She was too angry and too scared. She had been waiting the whole darkie time to leave the stupid herd, and with the bright lights appearing, she knew it was time to go. She woke up her foals and told them it was time to go. They needed to leave the herd, Bestest babbeh looked ecstatic. Gweenie babbeh looked shocked, but remained quiet. Bwue babbeh looked horrified.
“W… Wat? Y!? Bwue babbeh nu wan leave herd” Bwue babbeh cried in protest
Uphie thought about explaining to Bwue babbeh the reasons why she thought this herd was bad and why she felt they had to leave, but there was not enough time, she wanted to leave before any of the other Fluffies woke up. She did not want any of the stupid Fluffies following her.
“Shaddap Bwue babbeh” she whispered menacingly “mummah sa wi go. Den babbehs hab tu go.”
Bwue babbeh looked at her with horror, then looked down in defeat and murmured okay. She helped him on her back, along with Bestest babbeh and Gweenie babbeh. She felt kind of bad telling Bwue babbeh to just shut up and listen to her, but it was the best, the sooner they could leave the herd, the better it would be for all of them.
She snuck out of the nest, with the foals on her back and looked at the Fluffies. So many of them were just sleeping out in the open. She had to admit, it looked nice. The forest with such dull colors, but the ground filled with such colorful fluffs. She would have stayed if the Fluffies were better, but so many of them were such meanies, and so many others were such dummehs. Bestest babbeh and Gweenie babbeh said nothing, but she could hear Bwue babbeh whimpering faintly. She paid him no heed, as she slowly crept away.
It was colder now. Much colder than before she had met the herd. The sky was still grey and the trees still looked scary with their bare branches. Uphie felt nervous, freezing and alone, but the herd disgusted her and she would never go back. She had come back to her original plan. She needed to find her mummah and her home. She continued walking away from the herd, shivering with each step. Her three foals had huddled together, forming a fluff pile as they hugged each other tightly for warmth.
“Wer Uwpee gowing?” came a voice from behind.
Uphie turned around in shock to see three familiar faces: Mewon, Bwirch and Enegwy. She looked at them nervously and thought about what to say, but just sighed and decided to go with the truth.
“Uwpee nee tu gu n fin mummah. Uwpee nu can be wit herd anwmor”
The three Fluffies looked at her with surprise and Mewon stepped forward.
“Bu Uwpee nee hewd. Nee hewd fo warmies and safies”
Uphie shook her head. “Uwpee nu fee safies wit hewd no mo.”
Mewon looked shocked and started moving closer to Uphie. Uphie locked see places with the green Fluffy. She felt a spark. Maybe he could come with her and be her new special friend? He was just like Specaw Fwen, kinda. He would sometimes come and defend her from the Smartys, give her nummies, and he was always nice. Maybe he could be a daddeh to her babbehs, and could live with her in her home.
“Com wit Uwpee, Mewon” she said softly.
Mewon looked at her with shock and he looked deep in thought. He was clearly thinking about it, but then he shook his head.
“Nu. Nu. Nu. Mewon nee herd fo warmies and safies… Uwphie nee hewd fo warmies and safies!”
Uphie began to back away in terror, as Mewon approached. He kept telling Uphie to come back to the herd and one look in his see places was all Uphie needed to know that he was not taking no for an answer. She began to back away slowly. Suddenly Mewon began running at her. Uphie’s instinct took over, she made a u-turn and ran as fast as she could. She looked behind and she could see Mewon, Enegwy and Bwirch chasing after her. She began to quicken her pace.
“Han on tu mummah!” She ordered Bestest babbeh, Gweenie babbeh and Bwue babbeh.
They ran pass trees and rocks, as Uphie ducked and weave. She could still hear her fluffy pursuers behind her. Mewon was shouting at her, telling her to come back. He kept pleading for her not to run away from the herd, telling her that she needed the herd for warmth and safety. Uphie paid him no heed and focused on the path ahead. She suddenly heard a scream and turned back to see that Enegwy had tripped and fallen down. Mewon had stopped as well, to attend to his fallen friend, but Bwirch was still chasing.
“Gib Bwirch Bwue babbeh! Bwue babbeh nee hewd!” Bwirch screamed.
Uphie kept running. She came across a frozen river and began to run across. The ice was slippery and she could barely keep balance, but she made it and turned back to see that Bwirch had not run across. She was still on the other side, and then she saw something blue on the ice. Her see places widened, as she realized that it was Bwue babbeh. Uphie tried to step on the ice, but felt the it crack under her hooves and quickly stepped back on land, her instinct told her it was not safe. It would seem that the same was said for Bwirch, who kept to her side of the river, but she was shouting for Bwue babbeh to come to her, Uphie began to do the same. Two Fluffy mares screaming for the foal to come to them.
Bwue babbeh look around feeling very dizzy. He had just fallen off mummah and had landed on this very cold ground. He got on his hooves, but slipped back onto his tunny. He was scared and confused. He could hear two voices shouting his name. He turned to his right and saw mummah. She was calling for him and she looked so scared. He turned to his left and saw Bwirch mummah. She was also calling for him and also looked very scared.
Both mares were calling for him, telling him to come. In the past he would have listen to mummah, but now he was not so sure. He didn’t know how to feel about mummah anymore. Did mummah even love him? He thought about his life with mummah. Him and Gweenie babbeh were always less important that Bestest babbeh and Oddah bestest. Mummah said that she loved them all, but it was clear she loved Bestest babbeh and Oddah bestest way more.
He thought about that time that mummah shouted at him and Gweenie babbeh. He had never seen her so angry in his life. He remembered that she also shouted at Bestest babbeh, but all it took was for Bestest babbeh to shout back and mummah stopped shouting. So why did mummah get angry when he shouted back at her? It was not fair. It was never fair. Bestest babbeh always got milkies first. Mummah always said that she loved Bestest babbeh first. Bestest babbeh got praised when she hurt Bwue babbeh but Bwue babbeh got hurt when he called Bestest babbeh a poopie babbeh.
He still remembered that argument where he called Bestest babbeh a poopie babbeh. He was just so mad. He hated Bestest babbeh. She was the worst sistah ever. Bestest babbeh kept screaming, even though they all knew that Mummah hated loud noises, and Bestest kept insulting all those meanie Fluffies, and forcing mummah to apologize, but it was not just that, this was something that had been festering even before left their original nest.
Mummah never noticed the way that Bestest babbeh looked at Bwue babbeh and Gweenie babbeh. The cold look of disgust that Bestest babbeh would give him and Gweenie. The mean insults that Bestest babbeh would call Bwue and Gweenie, whenever mummah went out to look for nummies. When they left the nest to find mummah’s mummah, he thought things would be better because mummah would be with them all the time, but it only got worse.
Being screamed at by mummah while Bestest sat on the side with her stupid smug smile. The humiliation of having to walk in shame, while Bestest remained on mummah’s back. Those nasty comments that Bestest said when mummah finally allowed Bwue and Gweenie to rest on mummah’s back. All the times that Bestest would secretly bully Gweenie while mummah was not looking, with Bwue often having to step in. Bestest calling Bwue an ugwy babbeh and Gweenie a noisie cwy babbeh.
Seeing all those Fluffies call Bestest a poopie babbeh was seriously so satisfying and so many of the foals in that herd liked him and said that he had pretty fur. It felt good to be appreciated, unlike mummah who seemed to be ashamed of his fur color and always trying to hide it. He did not believe her when she said that she covered his fur to protect him from munstahs, after all, that did not protect Oddah bestest and all the other Fluffies in mummah’s old herd. Besides, mummah never seemed to side with him. It was always Bestest and the only time she seemed to care was when she got angry and hurt Bwue, unlike Bwirch mummah.
During their short time with the herd, Bwirch mummah had only shown kindness to Bwue babbeh. She would praise Bwue babbeh when mummah was not looking, calling Bwue babbeh a pwetty babbeh. Bwirch mummah gave him nuzzles and nummies. Bwirch mummah was nice to him when all the other foals called him weird with his poopie covered fur. Bwirch mummah protected him from mummah. Bwirch mummah loved him.
He turned to Bwirch mummah and began to crawl towards her. He could hear his mummah screaming and the ice felt cold on his belly, yet he continued crawling with steely determination. He only felt bad for Gweenie sistah. He wanted to ask her to come and join him. They could be happy with Bwirch mummah together. Mummah loved Bestest, so let her have Bestest, but Gweenie babbeh did not deserve this, she deserved to be loved as well, but he knew Gweenie would never agree, she loved mummah too much and she would never leave her, so he was done. Mummah was sick and tired of the herd, and he was sick and tired of her.
He crawled and crawled, but began to hear the ice under him crack, he looked at Bwirch mummah paralyzed with fear and suddenly the cold floor beneath him gave way. The cold wawa hit him immediately. It hurt so much and the wawa all around him made him feel so scared. He flailed about in a panic and he wanted to scream from help, but somewhere deep inside him, he knew no one would come, but something entered the water. It was Bwirch mummah, she had dived into the cold wawa to save him.
Bwirch mummah held him tightly and shook her hooves as she tried to swim upwards, but she could not and began to sink. The wawa was cold and it hurt, and Bwich mummah was desperately struggling to escape. She began to sink deeper and deeper, holding Bwue babbeh tighter and tighter. Bwue babbeh felt her fur against his own. He felt cold and he knew this was it. He knew that he was going to have forever sleepies, but he was happy, happy that someone actually tried to save him. He closed his see places as the cold consumed his body, forever sleepies did not scare him, for he finally felt it, the warmth of true maternal love.
Uphie stared on in disbelief. She had just watched Bwue babbeh betray her, crawl away and sink into the cold wawa below. She watched in shock as Bwirch had dove in to save Bwue babbeh, and now neither had come up. She just sat there and waited. Yet after some time, she knew they were gone. Mewon and Enegwy were back, so it was time for her to go. She felt weird, she knew that she should be upset that she lost another of her babbehs, yet she did not. Bwue babbeh was quite frankly a bad babbeh and even in finally moments he betrayed her. This was what he deserved.
“Com on babbehs. Iz tim tu gu” she muttered coldly.
She walked away from the river, keeping an eye on Mewon and Enegwy. They had stopped pursuing her and were looking for Bwirch. She kept looking back, until she could not see them, and then she just kept walking. Again she had no idea where she was and no idea where to go. She kept moving forward, telling herself that if she walked straight long enough, she would eventually find home. She kept walking and walking, only stopping for a short rest or to feed her babies. She walked until she saw a bunch of colors in the distance.
She stopped in horror, thinking that she must have returned back to the herd, but as she walked closer she realized that the colors in the distance were big housies. Her see places widened as she got closer and realized that she had found a town. She could never remember seeing so many houses back in her old house, but she remembered that her mummah would sometimes take her to places like this in that loud vroom vroom munstah.
“Babbehs! Mummah found it!”
She looked back to her Bestest and Gweenie babbeh. The two foals were huddled together, shivering. She felt a sense of urgency as she imagined her foals freezing. She needed to find home and she needed to find it fast. Feeling a rush of adrenaline she began to walk down the hill, but not too fast, she dared not drop either of her remaining babbehs.
She traversed the hill as fast and as carefully as she could, until she arrived at a somewhat familiar place. She looked around and saw some recognizable objects. Slides. Swings. This was one of those places were the little hoomins would play, though currently it was empty, except for a couple of brightly colored Fluffies who were wandering the playground. Uphie hid behind a bush and eyed them suspiciously. She wasn’t sure if she could trust bright Fluffies at the moment.
A couple of those little hoomins entered the playground and surrounded those bright Fluffies, and Uphie wondered if she should join them. She pondered about asking one of the little hoomins whether they could help her find her mummah and find her home, but something stopped her, she remembered Sanny had once told her not to trust hoomins. At the time she felt that Sanny was being silly, but nowadays it always felt that Sanny was right. Could Sanny be right about this?
Again Sanny was correct, as one of the little hoomins picked up one of the Fluffies by its rear leg, they began to squeeze the Fluffy causing it to make bad poopies all over another Fluffy. There was screaming and the sound of the little hoomins laughing, and Uphie knew it was time to go. She began to crawl away, sneaking next to a wall and walking silently in the shadow. The sounds of Fluffies screaming and children laughing was all she could hear.
Uphie ran. Uphie ran and ran. She ran past a hoomin lady, who screamed and called her a rat. She ran pass a vroom vroom munstah, which almost hit her and made a loud screech and a honk. She heard a hoomin shouting at her angrily, and she just kept running. She ran through an alleyway, turned a corner and ran across another street. She saw a couple of little hoomins and ran past another alleyway. She ran as fast as she could, refusing to look back and then ran through a third alleyway. She saw a boxie and ducked inside, whimpering. She removed her foals off her back and was relieved to see that both still clung on.
“Bestest babbeh. Huff huff. Gweenie babbeh. Huff huff. Iz okay” she muttered weakly between deep breaths.
The two foals made weak nods, as they huddled close together and Uphie huddled next to them, in an attempt to feel warm.
She huddled in the boxie for what felt like forever. She dared not leave. Everytime she did, she would always see a hooman and it would make her flee back inside, and once there was a hooman that ran past her boxie so quickly that Uphie made scardy poopies. He had dropped some nummies, which was perfect for Uphie and her two babbehs. The nummies were crunchy and both Bestest babbeh and Gweenie babbeh struggled to bite, but at least they had nummies. Nummies and nestie. Uphie felt okay here. She felt that they could rest here a little longer. Stay here to rest up and get warm. Maybe just a little nap.
She woke up with the worstest coldie hurties. The bwight time coldie hurties were bad, but the darkie time coldie hurties were something completely different. She actually felt like she was going to get forever sleepies if she did not find some place warm. She turned to her babbehs and saw them tightly nuzzling each other, desperately for warmth. She began to grow scared. Maybe not mummah, but she needed to find a nice hoomin, who would take her in and take care of her and her babbehs. She knew she would not last long without such.
She mustered all of her strength to peer out of her box and saw the silhouette of a hoomin standing there. They had one hand on the wall and there was the noise of some kind of water hitting a wall. They made some noises and Uphie stared at them cautiously. She kept hidden behind the box, as the hoomin entered the light. Uphie’s see places opened wide in disbelief. The hoomin looked familiar. She was sure that she had definitely seen the hoomin before.
She began to approach the hoomin, slowly and cautiously. She was still scared, but there was something about the hoomin that looked familiar. The brownish-blonde hair, the shiny silver see places, and the face of a pwetty mummah despite having the scent of a daddeh. Uphie continued staring, until she realized it. This wasn’t just some hoomin. The was her mummah’s special friend. This was her daddeh. She exited the box and ran towards him, screaming “daddeh!” as she hugged his leg.
