For a foal in a can, I would not pay much, if anything. IRL however, I’ve payed $2,500 for a purebred dog, with excellent genetic health, going back over 3 generations, with many conformation champions in its bloodline. Genetic defects can easily cost much more than that in vet bills alone. It also can make them easier to train, if you can predict their temperament. I have no regrets about it, and would buy another dog from this breeder without hesitation.

Meanwhile, my cat came from a shelter. XD She’s very expensive. (Autoimmune illness.)
