Queequeg had not left Galatea’s side
Since the incident with the feral smarties
He would never let anyone hurt Galatea ever again
Galatea still only spoke in chirps and peeps since the incident
But Queequeg still treated her no differently than he always had
She was still Galatea
Nothing
Not even her inability to speak
would change that
Miss Lorna took you and Galatea to a special safe room within the main house
You didn’t know why the other fluffies
Were scared of her
She was so kind and gentle
She helped teach you how to care for Galatea
You were sad that she couldn’t stay and play with you but
Miss Zoey stayed with you all the time in the safe room
Zoey had Odis with her too and even though Odis didn’t talk or play
Just having someone familiar around made you feel more at ease
The next morning
Daddy came back and told you and the others that it was time to go home
You love daddy
But you also love Galatea
How would daddy react to you asking to stay on the farm?
You begin to cry
Daddy pats your head
“What’s wrong little dude?”
“Queequeg nu wan weave Gawatea.
Gawatea need Queequeg wike Odis need daddy”
Daddy looks down at you
“But you also don’t want to leave daddy and the others right?”
“Yus”
Daddy hugs you as tears stream down his cheeks
“Daddy mad at Queequeg?”
“Mad? No. No I’m not mad in the slightest.
I’m just happy so very very happy that you love Galatea so much”
Vicky bends down to where she is at eye level with Queequeg
“If you want to stay here that’s fine, if you want to take Galatea with you that’s fine too. Well as long as daddy is ok with that”
You arrive. Back home it’s been too long since you slept in your own dog house
The whole herd is here
Odis
Atlas
Sugar bell and her babies
Gummy and the other microfluffs
Jelly
Jam
The newcomer Trantor
And last but not least you and Galatea
You lay next to Galatea keeping her warm and safe
The Rhythm of her heartbeat
Puts you at ease
As you drift off to sleep
