Here is my entry for Octoberthon Marathon Prompt #7

Had a tough time with this prompt until I remembered something from my childhood, a story told around the fire about these red eyed tree monkeys who would stare at you through the top of your tent while you slept. The only thing that comes up on google about them are just red eyed tree frogs, so I wouldn’t consider them a cryptid. Just a funny story to get gullible kids creeped out while camping.

Sounds like a skunkape, which are commonly depicted as having red eyes and said to climb trees more often than sasquatch elsewhere.

yes, I’m picky about being able to distinguish what is hair and what is skin so giving them a big fluffy overcoat looks best to me.
