What do cherpy babies sound like?

When I read/think of them I think of bird chirping. Is that what it would sound like? Or are there mammals that Cherp?

The common answer from a long long time ago was like rodents like mice and hamsters. People nowadays seem to think they chirp like birds and make other bird sounds which idk isnā€™t my preferred headcanon.

The justification being that theyā€™re genetic chimeras of a hodgepodge of different animals. Some people put birds in that hodgepodge to explain their speech and (sometimes) feathery wings.

Iā€™ve always thought of baby chicks.
I donā€™t care if it makes more biological sense. Rodents squeak. Fluffies cheep like chickens.

In my head they sound sort of like baby guinea pigs, except instead of the whistle/ā€˜wheekā€™ a guinea pigā€™s noises start with, foal noises start with the ā€˜puh,ā€™ so it sounds like the babies are saying ā€˜peepā€™

I go for the rodent/puppy sound.
Never was a fan of the bird idea, even if they have bird dna for the wings/feathers, in my eyes the mamals dna used are more prevalent.
But in the end of the day the golden rule always prevail ā€œIt all depends on your headcanonā€

I always thought of it as a literal high pitched voice saying ā€œpeep!ā€ and ā€œchirp!ā€. Itā€™s so much dumber and more uncanny like that.

Also makes me think of Churpos, where itā€™s just a normal male voice saying ā€œchirp.ā€ in a monotone.

It makes most sense to me too because of that. When I see ā€œchirpā€/ā€œcheepā€/ā€œpeepā€, I think of baby birds.
