Tbh Hellgremlins have ALWAYS been in the fandom since the very beginning. I remember it when I was in the fandom in highschool. There were always tons of evil fluffies out there. It isn’t some new thing in the fandom at all.

Gosh, Its so interesting seeing all these different opinions on hellgremlins. I’d love to toss my hat in the ring but, I only came in during the clickie-wickie’s video, joining the sub reddit, and- then leaving after the whole hugmass cancelation and abuser riots thingy-

It’s a bit more complicated then that. The problem with Hellgremlins, if it could really be called a problem, is one of hivecanon, and as well as a problem of prejudice. We have some extreme abusers who use the actions of some really bad fluffies to say “all fluffies are like this” or “all fluffies can be like this”, or think fluffies in such terms. Conversely, there are people who think that fluffies shouldn’t be capable of such extremes. Aethelred made a point that, I feel, sums up the matter better than I could.
Considering that Goretober was a thing on the subreddit, and they tried to make Halloween an “abuse-only” day back in 2020, there was a reason why there was a Hugmas. I think the decision to make Halloween 2020 on the subreddit abuse-only was in bad-taste, especially considering Fluffybooru died just a month before.
I definitely get what you mean. To be honest, and as much as I disliked the abusive comments and history, I do wish that the plug was not pulled so quickly on Fluffybooru. There was a lot of nuance and context that is now lost because of the death of fluffybooru.

Some enjoy the concept of justified abuse.

i didnt mean the Halloween thing, i didn’t mind that at the time (Now i think it was kinda dumb). what really caused me to leave was when everyone got hugmass canceled and scared off all the hugboxers
i actually never went on fluffybooru, i used to think that was a person before seeing someone call it a website x3, i’m very new to this qwp

I like miserable fluffies. Sometimes that misery is wrought by humans, and sometimes I like it to be wrought by selfish villainous fluffies. Sometimes the fluffies that suffer are sweet and innocent. Sometimes the fluffies that suffer are rat bastards, or something in between. Maybe a fluffy deserves the pain headed their way. Maybe they don’t deserve any torment. Maybe a villainous fluffy goes completely unpunished.
It’s all valid. It’s horrible-that’s what matters.
Hellgremilns once in awhile is good. The newfags wont know what they are and be entertained, the oldfucks are cautious.

Way late to the party but i wouldnt argue fluffies are even biotoys to people arguing for them. They are fictional things. They dont exist thus their pain does not matter. We can enjoy it as much as we want.
That being said, all the hellgremlin stuff is what made me leave the fandom for nearly a decade. I just came back since the early 2010s. Was sad to see the booru die but glad people are actually active here.
