What’s the number one recurring thing you hate in fluffy stories/comics?
When people “fix” what’s “wrong” with fluffies. It’s about as exciting as listening to a comics nerd explain how this hero or that should REALLY be using their powers and they’d win all the time. Yeah. I’d buy that comic book, buddy. Every issue, year after year.

This might not be the answer you’re asking but the number of different subspecies has gotten to be a little too much.
There are some pretty interesting ones and we do get some great artwork from it, but it does make you question what causes them.
I was thinking about trying to add one of the already existing ones to my models but I had to think why would Hasbio create a new species when they’ve already screwed their reputation.

I (think) most subspecies is caused by rapid evolution in herd needs/environment.
Though I agree and have parodied it. Some just seem to come out of nowhere.

Personally; Where Fluffies are those smart while doing dumb ass things. They could have a herd with them and have plans for X, Y and Z, but then turn derp when humans step into the frame where they could ‘scare’ humans away by puffing their cheeks and such.
Like, pick one thing and stick with it, it’s rather annoying when they could maybe have plans for stuff, then turn around they become slow as molasses in the middle of a blizzard.

Sea fluffies, bread fluffies… it’s fun for a meme but in the ‘reality’ of the setting, it’s just kinda stupid.

Sea fluffies are one of those I personally think are kind of cool. Bread fluffies, I don’t even remotely get as a concept.

I don’t hate sea fluffies, I just don’t really see the point of them. How much can you even do with them, story-wise? They all have to be feral or remain in a pool / bath / tank, they can’t run away from home…
Y’know what, that being said, I did just get an idea for a short stupid story I might write about one.

I like fluffies thinking they are smart but in actuality they have just been stupid lucky. If they’re actually smart it better be the crazy old fluffy in the herd that’s seen some shit cuz she’s like a year old.

It’s more of a herd of fluffies seemingly having poopy place, nesting areas and the like as if they’re on a higher form of thinking, but somehow still get easily trapped by humans. I still haven’t seen a story with an ‘old fluffy’ to get this, just hella smart ones when the story demands it.

“Shitrat” is a stupid word. I never use it in my stuff because it’s just NOT something people would naturally start saying. The transition from T to R in a two syllable word like that is gonna make it too awkward to sound good. I much prefer “shitpig” as it’s a thing I’ve already heard normal people call stuff, and the syllable transition happening between two hard consonants makes it easier to emphasize, which is important for an expletive. Also fluffies are much larger than rats.
I am 100% dead serious.

I won’t name or call people out but there are countless examples where people came into the fluffy hobby and would remove the core flaws that make a fluffy a fluffy. Making them not dumb or naïve in any way or having them speak normally instead of with the fluffy lisp and in fluffspeak for example. Some fluffies have zero horse like features and there should at least be a mane or hooves, otherwise we get into Space Cat territory, where your creation has little difference with a talking cat that looks weird. Fluffies being fragile is an old staple that some ignore outright.
If you are just making a one panel image, then it’s fairly okay to make it simple and not have every single thing that ticks off the fluffy checklist, but these small things do add up, especially when you make comics or write stories. The people who ignore these traits tend to act like they are a problem when in fact fluffies are defined by their flawed nature more than anything. By trying to make something better or correct an issue that didn’t exist, they cannibalize the core premise and end up with something bland and narratively boring. I’m all for creative liberties but if you remove the building blocks of a fluffy and replace them more and more, then what you end up with simply is no longer a fluffy.

Also i agree, you gotta take the good with the bad of what a Fluffy is, the only exception to some of these e.g. speech or not dumb or stuff like that is make a story or art explaining one’s headcanon… make it a lab grown variant, crack open its skull and fiddle around its brain etc etc… this wont fit ebery situation but you get what im trying to say.
