Drawn 100% in MS Paint. Additional image manipulation achieved through GIMP. Chipped away at this one over a month or so. Panel one done in an hour, panel two done in an hour and a half-ish a week or so later, panels three through five done over about five hours in a VC just tonight.
I’m obscenely proud of how this turned out. I think this is my best work to date.
I’m questioning my decision to put the Justin Bieber poster there because it’s just so comical
But I was going for “little girl’s bedroom around the time MLP was at its peak” and I think I nailed that
This is genuinely so sweet, I love that last panel with her happy smile. I hate to think our pets ever worry that we won’t love them forever, but maybe it’s just the hunger talking. Dinnertime and pats will put out that fire Great job, Za
Thank you, Fawn! I like to think that the question of “will my owner always love me?” is one unique to fluffies, due to the unique way their minds work.
In my mind, the story is as follows. Emily, the owner, gets a fluffy for her 10th birthday and names her Lucille. Emily raises Lucille until she’s old enough to run and play, and then that’s all they do. You never see one without the other, always getting into something or playing some games. And then, as Emily gets older, she gets busier with school and a growing social life. Lucille still sees her, sure, but they spend less time together. Then, as Lucille gets really old, she starts to think “I’m old now, and I can’t run or play like I did when I was little. And mummah’s getting older, she’s growing up, she has other friends now. I wonder if she still loves me like she did when we were younger. Or if she still loves me at all.”
I’m probably just being overemotional as usual, but this made me cry a bit, fully willing to admit that. Always makes me happy to see you stretching your artistic muscles, whether that be in a visual or written medium. She’ll love you even long after you’re gone, Lucille, I can promise you that as a life-long pet owner myself.
