If fluffies are as prolific vermin as most stories make them seem, even if alicorns were 1% of all fluffies there would still be too many of them.

I’d say that after a few years, people stopped paying large sums for alicorns, because fluffies stopped being a novelty long ago.

Well it seems like that’s not the case within the last few years anymore. But for most part(according to all the stories anyway) it depend on their color, just because you’re an alicorn doesn’t mean your price suddenly goes up when you have plain colors(or whatever the colors that is deem crap at the time).
According to a story I read recently, you can get one as cheap as 15$ though when the shop’s mares just released a batch full of them, though they will try to slice the price up by adding accessories, and if you can only afford the shitrat, they will give it to you for free by pretending to throw it into the trash.
