You are Zoey
You have taken into your care
A baby puke green unicorn foal with a safety orange mane
Her mane is little more than peach fuzz at the moment and her little tail is bald as a billiard ball
Her name is Jaingo
Jaingo
Is a “derp” fluff
She can’t really do much more than stand, sleep, eat, poop, pee and drool
Your friend found her in a trash can just outside of fluffy mart
Your friend already has an SBS fluff
So you offered to take care of her in his stead
You used to have an SBS fluff of your own
Sadly they recently passed away in their sleep due to age
You have longed for a similar companion ever since
You gently scratch behind Jaingo’s ear
She slowly blinks
Those big amber eyes
Are anything but vacant intently following your every move
You put a tiny on her to wipe up the slobber
A tiny diaper stop accidents before they happen
And a little stroller with adjustable hood to be used when going into town for supplies
Jaingo becomes more attentive when you put her in the stroller
She watches the people go by as you run errands around town all the while suckling on her pacifier
Content to just go wherever you go
Jaingo has recently exhibited a previously unseen behaviors
She will now wrap her little hooves around your hand or fingers while suckling her pacifier
She’s begun wandering back and forth in her stroller from time to time
And she will start smelling the air when you walk past the local Italian restaurant
Jaingo still couldn’t talk
But that doesn’t matter to you
Today was difficult
Not because of Jaingo
But because of a person you had to deal with
It’s one thing to only like certain kinds of fluffies
It’s another thing entirely to tell someone that they should kill their pet because they have “bad genes”
“Look all I’m saying is that it’s a waste of time and energy to raise a vegetable. Time and money better spent on breeding good colored alicorns that can actually take care of themselves”
All you asked was where the high calorie fluffy formula was
You grab what you need,
Check out and head home
You enter the safe room and begin feeding Jaingo
After which rock Jaingo to sleep
Jaingo of mine.
Sweet Jaingo of mine.
Drift off
to dreamland now.
And when dream
What will you be?
A princess?
A Queen?
I wonder?
And when you wake.
Your hoof I will take.
And keep you safe.
For always.
Jaingo wraps her little hooves around your fingers and drifts happily off into dreamland
It’s been about two weeks
Jaingo is not growing
She’s maintaining the size and weight she currently has
But she should be growing at all
You have the vet come over for a house call
The vet carefully examines
Jaingo
“The problem is that once a fluffy reaches this age they should be eating solids.
Since you are obviously dedicated to raising Jaingo
I would suggest
A kibble and formula Purée”
Jaingo’s growth catches up rapidly
And she’s finally healthy once again
Another week goes by and
Jaingo starts walking a lot more
She follows you around never leaving your side
She still drools and suckles on her pacifier
But she sees more “present”
Than she once was
Then one day Jaingo starts….cuddling?
She doesn’t cuddle the same way Odis does
It’s more of a sideways head-but
Followed by a series of rapid suckles on her pacifier
You still take her with you to run errands
She still rides in the stroller but you let her walk beside you from time to time but always on a leash just in case
You had another run in with the
“Bad genes “ guy
You were once again trying to buy formula
Once again he tells you how useless Jaingo is
Yada Yada
You simply ignore him
“Hey Bitch! Pay attention when someone is speaking to you!”
Again you ignore him
This time
he kicks Jaingo’s stroller
So in response you kick HIM
Right
Between
The
Legs
As he lies on the floor crying in pain
You comfort the shaking Jaingo
Before leaving the store
You finally get back home
As you unload the groceries
Lorna informs you that a car followed you back to the farm
“Lorna please take Jaingo to the safe room”
You watch as “Bad genes guy”
Walks up the driveway towards you
You reach for something in your purse
He’s less than 5 feet away from you now
He reaches out to grab your arm
He feels something pressing against his chest
He looks down
And just about craps himself
Of all the guns he expecting to see
You can guaranty
An ithaca auto & burglar
Was not one of them
