At any rate, I’d recommend moving away from longer legs and scrawnier bodies. The scrawny part is fine here obviously because, y’know, Tar. But in general those are traits that need to be avoided.

I made this fanart because I felt brave enough and wanted to join in on the community with my drawing.
I wanted to draw a character I like for an author I admire.

And that’s a good thing. I’m not trashing your artistic ability. You are a very talented artist, I can tell. But fluffies should look like fluffies. Anything leaning too far away from that risks looking too much like a real animal, in this case, a horse/pony. Which is problematic for a community that allows abuse art. It also diminishes the cohesion and integrity of the fluffy species if biology/personality are allowed to drift too much.
If it wasn’t me saying it, it would be someone else.

Don’t be discouraged. As you said, you were copying the image from a source and your artwork genuinely looks like said image, so the issue here clearly isn’t your ability.
Agree that it is still more MLP than fluffy but again, I get that’s because you were referring to a source.
The eyes are good though.
Also, you may have noticed but when people on here think something is straight up bad, they don’t sugarcoat it.
So, if the feedback is that you have talent, but the work itself needs tweaking, then you can take it at face value.

Not to sound like I’m beating a dead horse (get it) but I have to agree with some of the members here.
The legs are too long, which makes it more like a pony than fluff, which goes against the universal head cannon everyone has. Not to mention there isn’t even fluff on the FLUFFY itself. I’m not sure if tar was shaven down or not, so this is more on me for not knowing the character, but if not, probably add some fluff on that scrawny fluff.
Outside of that, you’re pretty talented, and we’d all love to see more of your art
P.S why is this a controversial image? There’s nothing controversial about it!

First of all, thank you so much for making this. I woke up and decided to check FC, and it was like the first thing I saw, and just holy shit adjafjgjh. I think this is my favorite pic of Tar that anyone’s ever done.
Normally, I’m perfectly happy to complain about excessively long legs on my biotoys. However, this is in fact a canonically accurate image of Tar. She’s naturally quite tall and awkwardly long-legged already; and her owner has deliberately starved her to make her thinner so that she looks more MLP-like. The reason she looks a great deal like an MLP pone is that she is an ersatz MLP pone.
On a more metatextual level, I deliberately made her unusually big (even for an XXL, really) because it makes her obsequious cowering stand out more. She’s huge for a fluffy, and yet she has a very tiny presence; and the resulting contrast further highlights how pathetic and broken she is.
And I feel like this image captures those things pretty well–both the “small presence in a big body” quality, and the sense of Tar being a fluffy that’s been stretched and deformed bit by bit into a likeness of an MLP pony. The phrase “ersatz MLP pony” is really my favorite description here, because it encapsulates everything about her strange appearance.
This desire to defend the pic might just be me wearing my “you just made me fanaaart” blinders, but if that’s the case then I guess I’ll never feel bad about defending this, will I?
