A Heart of Darkness - Chapter 4: Brewing Trouble [by RandomAirPeoples]

On the outskirts of the property and deep in the woods, a herd of feral has taken up residence. Shaded by trees and free from predators, close to a source of clean water, and once with many fruit bearing bushes; this location was an ideal spot for the fluffies to propagate unabated. This feral herd had grown to an unusually large size not seen in cities, with eighteen adult fluffies and as many twenty-five foals all lead by a single smarty. The smarty is large and dirty, decorated with a few noticeable scars. He is a foul tempered, red furred earth fluffy with a piss-yellow mane and a perpetual expression of undeserved entitlement. He is flanked by his five Toughie friends, two unicorns and three earthies of large stature (for a fluffy that is). His remaining herd members were mostly scavenger beta males, a few pregnant or nursing mares, the smarty’s special friend, and plenty of foals.

Unfortunately, all good things eventually come to an end and so has this herds luck. The lack of predators has hurt the herd in the long run, as their food supply dwindles. Soon the winter will come and if the herd doesn’t act soon, they will surely starve to death. Though it seems fortune has once again smiled upon the ferals, as a few scavengers have returned with some exciting news. Through their frequent change of territory, they have stumbled upon a rather large home with a lot of land outside of the trees. Where there is a house, there is an unsuspecting human that is just begging to share their resources. The smarty is delighted by this news and decides in the best interest of the herd, they must commandeer this property.

The Smarty bellows to his herd, “Hewd, smawty hab found new wand! dah wand am big an’ bestest wand fiwwed wiff awot of nummies!”

The herd cheers the smarty on and sings his praises. In what appears to be their eighth consecutive darkest hour in the year, their fearless leader has once again come through for them. He’s led them through the cold times and has helped them grow to an enormous size. He must be doing something right, even though his temper can be dangerous. He rules with a tyrannical fist, his toughies giving sorry hoofs to any dissenters, keeping the peasants in their rightful place of subservience. Despite his control over the herd, this doesn’t dispel some of the concerns of his less than honorable habits.

Despite having the prettiest mare as his special friend, the herd’s smarty has decreed only he and his toughies may enjoy the forbidden fruits of intercourse with the herd’s mares. To ensure that only he and his retainers have the right to breed, he has personally neutered his beta stallions with his own hooves. Its easier to just pop them when they are still foals, though a little too time consuming when they are adults. Its dirty work, but necessary to ensure only the best genetics get to be passed down. Sometimes foals that do not belong to him or his toughies are found by the herd, or a beta is able to get a chance to breed before they can mitigate the opportunity. The punishment for this crime is often severe and cruel. The stallion is beaten and left for dead and depending on the mare’s standing she may face a minor beating or have all four legs broken and turned into a feral’s idea of a milk bag. The foals are killed if they are lucky or become enfie toys to the smarty and his toughie’s if they so feel like it. The few that that survive this fate, are left broken, psychologically damaged, and thrown into the designated shit pile to remain as the herd’s shit eaters. They almost never make it to adulthood, dying from malnourishment, repeated physical trauma, or severe parasitic infection. Nature is cruel, but perhaps a semi sentient bio-toy is much crueler when left to their own devices.

Over the next couple of days, the herd moves closer to the edge of the forest close enough to observe the home in the distance. It seems to only have one human who lives there, but he has a suspicious amount of fluffy food and toys. Perhaps he has a small herd of his own? No matter, they will be dealt with like any other competitors for the herd’s precious resources. Over the next few days, a toughie and some beta’s scout the area and find a rather large hole covered by poorly taped saran wrap. Its almost like this stupid human is inviting the herd in to take their land and supplies. Now the smarty waits, when the human leaves next his herd will make their move.
