They are as much horror as any of the torture movies are horror
Agreed. Not all horror is abuse, and I’m with you that horrorbox should be another content category. I want to explore the dark through fluffy fiction, but I have little interest in writing abuse, so while abuse is the better place to put it, still won’t fit.
Yo,
Vinie Again.
So, I can empathize with your view of things because I’m studying psychology and had worked with people with mental illness, but it is as I said. There will always be exceptions to the rules.
Hug boxers in an Abuser culture.
And abusers in a Hugbox culture.
We, as human, have a strange behavior in some species or types of people as “lower status”.
As an example, I can talk about the slavery times.
They were humans, they talked, they did have emotions and functional minds, and yet, many people trait them as animals. Not all those people were evil, some were even “good masters”, but, because of the culture everyone was raised in, they saw everything as normal.
But, there were people that fought for their rights, the abolitionists, and at first they were few, but with time they grew stronger and reached their goal.
In contrast, Fluffs, even having some idea of self, are not even seen as useful for people — just occasionally becoming pets. Even like this, there have people who protect them, the hugboxers.
That’s been said, you can have the headcannon you want. The important thing is that you enjoy it.
I agree. Up to a limit ideas like fluffies as gift decorations or seasonal pets is funny in its callousness, but when it goes to celebrating torture for torture’s sake it’s really starting to miss the point. “Cool” and “Heroic” are two things an abuser should never be, as they literally are just someone picking on things too small to defend themselves.
This was the start of the slope eventually leading to hellgremlins, going from abuse being funny in its cruelty to being a dickwaving contest over who’s the most brutal. It’s hard to paint yourself as a hero that sexy girls gather around to admire for defeating your foes when those foes are tiny childrens toys asking to be friends.
I have a story in the works related to this. My personal headcanon is that fluffy ponies, particularly the first wave which escaped from the Hasbio labs and bred like locusts, ended up being as destructive as locusts too - eating crops, wrecking farmland, etc. Along with fluffies in urban areas clogging drains and sewers with their corpses, causing floods. Basically, creatures ruined a lot of peoples’ lives before governments and private individuals got their shit together to work on a coordinated response. These factors mean that killing feral fluffies on sight is socially acceptable just like how killing mice or roaches on sight is fine. Torturing them is considered weird but not something you’d report to the cops, considering how many people were starved/driven to poverty by the pests.
I have to say there is a stark contrast between me, the writer, the person and the lyrical me, the protagonists or narrator. They do not match up just like that, at all.
I, as a writer, don’t see Fluffies as animals. They are not existing, there is no such thing as a fluffy, so me, as the writer, do not see them as something living. I don’t write about something that actually exists, my human and animals protagonists may be something that, as a species, exists, but they too, are made up.
My protagonists and narrators also are a mixed bunch. In my adopted alicorn story everyone thinks and sees Fluffies as living things. Maybe not animals but definetely a life form (maybe except for the people who to transport them).
Doc, from my Trendfluffy Story on the other hand, sees everything through “science” glasses, which basically means they have in general very little respect for life, especially if they “made” it in their lab.
But that doesn’t mean I, as the writer feel the same, or even consider it good. I am not writing stories for children, they don’t have to have a moral and the “bad” guys don’t always have to be punished. I don’t write to say “Look, here is what happens to bad people!” or “Look, Nature is evil or/and just!”
I just write what I think could be entertaining or what I personally want to read. I play Go because it relaxes me, too, not because I think about the horrors of war. I play five nights at freddys because I love me some good jumpscares, not because I think about dead and abused children. There is a difference between the content one puts out and the person themselves. There is a difference between protagonists and writers. Even a self insert will never be a full person, its only an aspect.
I’ll make a nice hugbox for you soon
Yeah but the shit like “Suffering makes them taste better.” or, “Everyone hates them but they’re also used as decor.” Makes no sense. Like either they’re toys who aren’t taken seriously or vermin having them be both in any meaningful ways makes it seem as if the culture has decided to make them a celebration of violence. No one hangs up dead rats or uses rat infants as christmas ornaments and disposable wedding gifts. In a similar way that not many people would have any real burning hatred towards the thing as evil spreaders of plague and hatred if they were a common if disposable commodity that people still wanted.
What is done to fluffies especially as simulacra of traits we deem as empathy maximizers seems really, really illogical unless you either see it as the action of sickos, or B. the celebration of violence and torture without even putting in any effort. Rats don’t beg and scream like children, so anyone abusing fluffies is using them as a human substitute. Of course there are those using them as an effigy and buying a fluffy that reminds you of your boss or ex for “revenge” is probably something that can happen. It’s like what Foxhoarder said, " It’s hard to paint yourself as a hero that sexy girls gather around to admire for defeating your foes when those foes are tiny childrens toys asking to be friends." In which everyone suddenly decided the best use of a quasi sapient species was torture for sadism’s sake.
This makes sense but then you wouldn’t have shit like freezer foals as well, or those plugged engagement foals.
What I meant by the comparison of HTF is that people are drawn to ultra cute characters getting fucked up.
I understand where you’re coming off with the grim dark stuff. I personally like grimdark but that’s not what originally drew me to fluffies. Yeah I like gore and cute things and both of those things mixed together.
But I liked the herd mechanics, the biological implications and interpersonal relationships between fluffies and between fluffies and humans. I just don’t like the term foxhoarder used, gremlins? It feels more like “fluffies are garbage horrible things and I’m going a good thing by killing them” sorta trope
This! You’re completly right, we should embrace the diversity of ideas. People finally should learn, that it’s a sign of courage to disagree but accept other opinions.
I can’t count how often small minded idiots drive the divide in communities.
I love to hate them, why do you take offence in it? It’s not about you, stop raising your voice for someone or something that has NOTHING to do with you.
You can jump at me or my friends when we insult YOU or do stuff to YOU but keep you hands off if we play pretend and have fun!
Why do my personal feelings on media mean that much to you? Like to the point you’re using capslock.
Because you basically say “I don’t like it around here, but I stick around to tell you I don’t like it.”
Now why would you do that? That’s actually the question I have no answer for.
Wow, Good point.
But it is, as I said in another topic; catharses.
For some weird reason, our mind can use this kind of sad or tragic stories as a way to release stress.
And it is the same with humans!
That’s the reason for the success of plays like Hamlet, King Oedipus, Romeo and Juliet.
Yes, the knowledge of catharsis is what inspired the Greek tragedies and even Shakespeare, etc…
Now, hubboxes is just cute.
(And, I want to reiterate that I’m not an abuser, but I love to debate about some subjects, and it is fascinating trying to find the root of the truth of why abuse is fascinating. No prob if you are through.)
My relationship with fluffies is love hate. In a way I’m addicted to this site as I’ve tried to leave multiple times. I honestly was looking to see if other people felt the same. Also it sorta seems like you came in here looking to start a fight. Unless you found a comment by someone you were following here in which case my apologies.
The difference between Greek Tragedy and the way most fluffy abuse is consumed is that people tend not to empathize with the fluffies who are the ones suffering. I highly doubt that Aeschylus made the Orestia with the intent people would “lol at the stupid emos.”. In short sadistic glee isn’t really catharsis and it sorta scares me that I can become addicted to it.
Same hahahaha
(And about sadistic glee, just see a movie like Saw or Hostel — so yep, there is a niche or a kind of pleasure to this kind of content.)
There are people on here, maybe more than less, who vent their sadistic tendencies in images. To not be completely socially unacceptable they provide justification for other people. They themselves need no justification, but it just feels more acceptable.
People are different and have different values.
Some may sympathize with cute little rodent/horse like creatures who beg for their lives. Other people just don’t and want to see them burn - and that’s okay
In case it’s not okay to you, you can’t go around and think everyone has similar views like you. I know as human beings we are tempted to do this, but it’s just not true.
You seem very invested in this, to the point where it sorta seems like you’re invalidating your own point. Like I wanted to talk about my mixed feelings on fluffies with people, you clearly don’t like it and yet are replying to this thread. I wouldn’t really care if you weren’t making a point about ignoring what you don’t like. I of course am so desperate for social interaction that I’ll reply to any comment on my post so that’s my own damage really.
