Another week had passed, and all the remaining foals had begun to be talkie babies. None of them remembered the orange foal and while they felt like there was someone missing, they never had spoken to the green pegasus so they couldn’t remember if they had dreamed about their pegasus brother either.
“Siwwy Bwuddah, nu hab udda bwuddah” The pegasus filly exclaimed. “Yuu nu dink wingy babbeh would wembah uddah pega… wingy babbeh!” Tapping her head with her hoof for emphasis. “bwuddah must be thinkie bout mummah’s pweddy bebbeh pituwes!” She looked up at the cabinet doors and the various crudely colored pictures of cartoon fluffies. None of the pictures depicted a brown foal, unknown to him his mummeh had in fact thrown the brown crayon in the litter box as soon as she saw it.
“Dat sownds wike it wite, yuu am suu swawt sistuh!” He praised his sister but remained unconvinced in the back of his mind. The brown colt thought to himself that he remembered being in a sorry box and mummah and the wingy baby went to go get a special tweat. He looked over at his pretty mummuh across the room, she would remember if they had another bwuddah. He could ask her but a feeling in his gut kept him from doing that.
He felt like the black sheep of the family. All his sistahs and mummeh were girl fwuffies while he was a boy. They were all cream colored with curly manes while he was brown, his mane had begun to grow in and was straight and as white as the sugar cubes grandmummuh had begun feeding them. His sister’s didn’t really like the sugah, they were too sweet and not like sgetties she would give them.
He enjoyed the sugar cubes and loved to do tricks gwandmummah. She taught him how to walk in circles lifting his front legs really high and funny, she had him walk back and forth around cups, she even had him jump over tiny widdle walls she made for him. She even taught them special words to say before eating for their new mummah.
He loved his Grandmummah and she told him all about his new mummah who would soon be here to play with him and eventually take him to his new home, her name was Marie and she was a human foal and she loved fluffies that could do horsie twikies.
Martha did her best to train the foals. According to Dan, when Marie first got Bella, she tried to teach her equestrian tricks but Bella had already been spoiled by her breeder and would not perform tricks for small treats. The fillies took after their mother and only tried to perform normal fuffy tricks. The colt however was a star pupil.
The colt didn’t understand half the words gwandmummah said but he didn’t understand why his mummah didn’t love her mummah enough to do twicks. He loved his mummah suu much and would do tricks all day to make her happy. Even his pegasus sister would try to do dancies for mummah which would cheer her up.
Gwandmummah came into the kitchen just then and picked up the ball his other two sisters were playing with. She pointed at mummah saying “Remember your rules” His sisters began to cry at having their toy taken before gwandmummah loudly announced “Your new mommy is coming soon.” Bella perked up at that, “weawy, Mawie am gonna take Bewwa homesie!?” Martha chuckled “Something like that sweetie.”
“Come here, sweetie” Martha motioned at the colt. I’ve got a surprise for you.
A high-pitched squeal filled the air as Marie ran up to the front door. She sang a nonsense song of La-La-Las as she came in the door and ran towards the kitchen.
Grandma stopped her at the gauntlet, “Quiet down sweetie. You don’t want to startle the babies.” Marie stood stiff and held her breath. Nodding silently and emphatically at her grandmother. Then Martha stepped out of the way. Just inside the doorway of the kitchen the brown colt obediently sat like a dog wagging his tail, affixed around his neck was a shiny blue ribbon. Marie let out a quiet but high-pitched squeal as she tried to contain her excitement at the sight of the foal. She shuffled quickly over to him and as he raised his hooves for uppies she scooped him up and pulled him close for huggies. He didn’t know how but these huggies were so much warmer than mummeh’s huggies.
Behind them Bella sat obediently fidgeting at the sight of her mummeh but afraid of what grandmummah said would happen if she didn’t wait. She hated that the poopie was getting all the huggies that she should be getting, and she hated that gwandmummah had given him a pretty blue bow. Her three fillies snuggled against her afraid from the sounds of the girl’s squealing. As Marie opened her eyes after hugging the colt tight against her chest, she saw her Bella looking up with big longing eyes.
“Bella!” Marie shouted ever so slightly too loudly. The fillies tried to burrow under their mother and the colt in her hands jumped from the sound. “I missed you so much!” Bella couldn’t contain herself and began to stand up as Marie rushed over and got on her knees to hug her fluffy, cold still in hand. His new mummah’s grip around him was tight but he was still about to reach his hooves out and hug both his mummahs.
As his hooves pressed against his mother, she felt him disturbing her moment of reuniting and opened her eyes to glare at him before seeing Grandmummah glaring down at her. Bella quickly feigned a smile at her foal and raised a hoove to include him in the hug. The fillies, watching what had begun to transpire from under their mummeh’s fluff began to reach up and hug Marie’s legs. “New mummeh?” They all began to chirp. “Wub new mummah!”
Marie eventually let the hug go. Bella struggled to hold on, she wanted that hug to last forebah. She missed her Mummuh so much and didn’t realize how much until she felt her warm embrace. “Ohkay sweetie, let’s make a fancy lunch to celebrate your new fluffies, what do you think we should make?” Marie immediately turned away from Bella to focus on her grandma. Bella wanted to stay and play but knew that at this moment, it was hopeless.
Gwandmummah took her shoe and gently kicked Bella in the back of her ankles, Bella noticed the kitchen door was open in the direction she had been kicked and took the nudge as an invitation to leave the room, she trotted towards the door to find her mummah’s room with all her toys and no meanie gwandmummah.
