Bleeding Butterfly, Chapter 1: Brian's Blunder and Cherry's Consequences (Star-The-Alicorn)

Spoiler alert: This is meant to be an alternate universe to the main “Cherry and Brian” timeline. Be forewarned that this spinoff series will contain a singular spoiler for future Cherry and Brian chapters. If you don’t wanna see those, skip this series until the main series’s finale!

The fluffies lazed around at Brian and Gavin’s feet as the two humans sat on the couch. They were watching a horror movie from the 40’s called Gaslight. A childhood favorite of Brian’s, which he had always watched on some channel that played old movies.

Cherry shuddered as the main villain manipulated the main character and made her believe she was going insane. How disturbing! He couldn’t imagine the same happening to him. How awful! Switchy gave Cherry a soothing lick to his cheek. “It am otay Chewwy, it nu am weaw!” Switchy cooed. Cherry smiled and snuggled up against the bigger alicorn.

“You sure these guys can handle such a dark movie?” Gavin asked, leaning towards his dark-haired boyfriend. Brian nodded, smiling.

“It’s mostly Dusk that enjoys horror movies, but as long as nobody gets too scared it should be fine.” Brian answered. Gavin nodded with a “Mhm” and settled back against the couch again.

It was the middle of the day, so the light outside would keep the fluffies’ minds from conjuring any monsters that would be outside. They were safe.

After the movie was over, Brian decided the fluffies needed some outdoor time. It had been hot during the day, so everyone had avoided going outside. But now that the sun was behind some clouds it had cooled down. Brian stood up from the couch, clapped his hands to get the fluffies’ attention, and said “Alright everyone, go play outside! I’ll be out there with you in a minute.”

The fluffies cheered and galloped out through the doggy door that led to the large backyard. Cherry slowed down near the door, since he still remembered his awful experience with the door’s cover. He hated having a stump of a horn, but at least nobody teased him for it and he could easily live a happy life without it. Once they were all outside, Brian and Gavin went into the kitchen to make some lemonade and talk.

They would soon realize what a horrible mistake it was to leave the fluffies alone.

As Lucky wandered the yard outside, she sniffed flowers and lapped at puddles. She loved being outdoors. She rounded the corner and squeaked when she ran smack into some stranger that was lurking in a corner of the yard, out of view of the back door. The stranger knelt down slowly and her eyes widened.

“Wow, such a pretty fluffy! I’m Dan. What’s your name?” The tall man offered. He held out a hand. Lucky didn’t need to know that the man was lying about his name. He knew she could easily squeal to her owners about how there was a stranger in her yard.

“Um… Fwuffy name am Wucky. Nice to meet yoo?” Lucky offered. She politely placed her hoof into the man’s hand, and the hand closed in a vice grip around her leg. The other hand was pressed to her mouth before she could even scream, and she was silently whisked away into the shadows.

A few minutes later, when Switchy was in the same area, his ears perked up at the sound of crunching footsteps behind him. He whipped around, but he was too late. A large stick from the yard came crashing down upon the top of his head, knocking him out immediately. The strongest fluffy of the bunch was made helpless and was held up by his tail.

Only a few seconds after that, muzzles were forced around Apple and Dusk’s mouths, keeping them from crying out as they were yanked up by the scruffs of their necks. Apple, Dusk and Switchy disappeared from the yard at the same time.

It took a minute for Cherry to realize he was alone. He whipped his gaze around himself, getting suspicious already. He was a naive fluffy, but that didn’t mean he was stupid. Sure, he did stupid things sometimes, but those were mostly accidental. He began to sniff the air, his ears swiveling back and forth. He smelled an unfamiliar human somewhere in the large yard, and he heard breathing. His catlike senses were certainly handy when he needed them.

He began to growl, his tail swishing back and forth in aggression. His pupils practically turned to pinpricks in fear. Where had his herd gone? His heart began to pound in his chest. He began to quietly slink back towards the house, keeping his head on a swivel and looking all around him.

Unfortunately for him, he was as far as he could possibly get from the back door. The backyard he was in had countless bushes, and the yard was getting darker because the sun was now setting. There was a lot of cover where a potential fluffy predator could hide.

Cherry was tempted to scream for help, but he didn’t know if whatever had stolen his family was right next to him or all the way on the other side of the yard. He started to shake. He heard something. He felt like he was being watched from somewhere very, very close. His eyes teared up from terror and he hissed as he whipped his entire body in a 180.

Too late.

A large human hand latched onto his muzzle, clamping it shut before he could yell. He saw the human’s eyes. Blue, cold, unstable. Wrong. There was no smile on that face. Not even a hint of a smirk. The only thing gracing the stranger’s expression was the promise of hurt, of pain and torture. The human was dressed all in black, the hood pulled over his head.

He was lifted into the air, and taken from the yard. No matter how he struggled, the human clutched him hard enough to hurt and he couldn’t get away. It would still be a few minutes before his owners knew he was gone. By the time Brian and Gavin happened to glance out the back window and notice they were missing, the kidnapper was long gone.

They’d never see their beloved owners again.
