Brookshire Christmas [by Maple]

“Clover, Lilac, slow down!”

You were struggling to keep up with your fluffies, weighed down by all the gifts they insisted on getting the herd. Balls and blankets and plush toys, all wrapped up in sparkly paper. Overpriced, with the most expensive wrapping options. You could have done better at a thrift store, yes, but Clover was actually having fun at the christmas market, dragging the gift he picked out for Lilac behind him. He saw a sunset patterned sweater with wing slits and begged you to get it for her, and how could you say no to that face? You had him distract her while you bought it and had it wrapped. The little goober wouldn’t even let you carry it.

This was going to put a dent in your savings account, but your herd was so nervous about winter. “Cold times” were bad for ferals, no food, no shelter, just the unending misery of snow and ice. their warm barn wasn’t enough to make them feel safe, so you told them about Christmas and Santa but they didn’t seem convinced.

Shifting your purchases in your arms, you smiled to yourself. Boot prints in the snow and a pile of fluffy gifts would make them believe. Anything for a little more joy in their lives.

Thankyou to AMDk7 for including me in their Christmas Interlude! I’m honored to be a part of it!
