Fluffy Courting Headcanons (Star-The-Alicorn)

As fluffies are made of many different species, their courting styles tend to vary based on breed/the largest percentage of animal in the fluffy.

If a fluffy truly loves their mate, they will mate for life and never have a “speciaw fwiend” again if the mate dies. Some fluffies only mate to have foals, and they may only see each other as friends who raise children together.

Fluffy couples of the same sex are not uncommon, and is usually accepted by other fluffies. When a fluffy falls in love, it’s not just for offspring; they want to spend their whole life with the other fluffy, and grow old with them.

Courting between an adult fluffy and a non-adult fluffy (Foal, weanling, etc.) is very against fluffy morals in the wild, on the streets and in a human’s home. So is courting between blood relatives.

Fluffies in general will usually start by spending more time around their preferred mate. They may test the other fluffy’s boundaries to see what the other is comfortable with, such as asking to sleep in the same nest. Then, there is gift giving such as the courted fluffy’s favorite food, nice flowers, or even pretty rocks. Fluffies do not experience heats, and, like humans, are willing to reproduce any time of the year.

Earthies usually sniff each other often to get themselves more acquainted to the smell of their potential mate. They cuddle way more often, coo to each other, and nuzzle. Nuzzles are the fluffy form of a kiss.

Earthies have more horse in them, and when courting, are more willing to face danger to impress a courted fluffy. They become more protective/aggressive, and will walk with a fancier gait.

Unicorns attempt to woo their potential mate with a large, colorful lightshow from their horn. Sometimes the fluffy is able to swim better due to their narwhal genes, and will attempt to show off how strong they are to the courted fluffy by braving deep water. They can also attempt to show off intelligence, as their horns also suck in extra oxygen.

Pegasi tend to court like birds, and depending on the type of bird in its genes, it could court many different ways. They could take stellar care of their wings so they can use bright plumage to attract a mate. It could also sing for a potential mate, or do things such as build a nest of the courted fluffy’s favorite color. They may even try to dance like a tropical bird, but this option tends to weird other fluffies out.

Alicorns have a very good chance of attracting a mate if the fluffy is not fearful of alicorns. They can use both a lightshow and plumage, which is heavily impressing to other fluffies. This is a double-sided coin, however. This can cause other fluffies to become jealous and develop resentment for the alicorn. They may even chase the alicorn away.

Fluffies who have a smarty complex are not as good at attracting a mate, as fluffies tend to avoid those with overconfident personalities. Overconfidence can lead to slip-ups, and slip-ups can lead to death. Not to mention, the smarty version of “courting” is demanding special huggies with zero gifts, wooing or declaration of love. Often, this comes with a threat or insult and other fluffies will protect the one accosted by the smarty.

Thanks! The smarties in my headcanon are very much like hellgremlins, they’re very hateable.
