Ah, a handpuppet! That makes sense. Though it wasn’t the lack of mane that threw me, it was the fact that it was upright–even a fluffy standing on its hind legs wouldn’t look that bipedal. But a handpuppet, yeah, that’s exactly what a handpuppet would look like.
So your art was fine, it was just not contextually obvious that it was a handpuppet. I’m not sure how you could convey that. Show the bottom of the puppet with a bit of the puppeteers arm showing? Though in fluffy world, that could be misinterpreted… Maybe color it Elmo red and give it googly eyes? Interesting question.

In all seriousness though, these two have been so good together you could probably get away with more implications than actually having it play out on screen.
Maybe have Chonky’s owner hear them struggle on the other side of the door, then just before he goes in to help them he hears them going at it and nopes the fuck out of there.
