I remember reading that in a Terry Pratchett Discworld book, where form affects the mind, especially when things are shape-changed.
This has links all the way back to Aristotle who believed that the mind is inextricably intertwined to the flesh, although modern advances in AI are redefining that (would an AI be affected by the hardware it’s running on?).
