Introducing "Novafluffies" by Z05

What is the Novafluffy Project?

The Novafluffy Project was launched in (redacted) initiated by billionaire Leonard Murphy and former HASBIO geneticist Alphonse Chadwick. Mr. Murphy’s primary motivation was to provide a fluffy pet for his young daughter, who suffers from autism spectrum disorder. After his three previous fluffies died from absurd causes, he sponsored a complete team led by the aforementioned Professor Chadwick, who was the only original team member willing to collaborate. He managed to retrieve all the data from HASBIO’s initial project during the PETA raid.

What is a Novafluffy

Comparison between a Novafluffy and a regular fluffy

A Novafluffy is a genetically modified fluffy organism designed to exhibit improved physical and mental traits. One could say it’s what HASBIO originally aimed for with their initial bio-toy project, although it’s claimed that Novafluffies are an even better iteration. They possess a higher concentration of canine and primate genes, which makes them more intelligent, sociable, and loyal to their owners.

What improvements have been made?

As mentioned earlier, Novafluffies are an enhancement over the prototypes released by PETA:

  • A denser skeleton: as the avian DNA present in the prototypes has been removed.
  • Increased muscular strength and a higher pain threshold.
  • Improved cardiovascular system.
  • More efficient digestive system and more resilient colon and bladder.
  • Longer lifespan, around 30 years.
  • Enhanced behavior programming and better survival instinct.
  • More durable hooves without being entirely solid.
  • Larger brain and improved memory capacity, along with heightened environmental perception.

They also possess additional added qualities:

  • A wide variety of fur patterns, all Novafluffies have them.

  • Different Styles of Manes, more similar to human hair.

  • AI-based programming, allowing them to learn faster and develop their own personalities, preferences, and interests, while avoiding the emergence of the Smarty syndrome.

However, they are not perfect and present some issues, mostly minor, but it’s recommended to monitor them:

  • Sterility: Novafluffies were designed to be incapable of reproduction, as a method to prevent another wave of feral fluffies and uncontrolled breeding. Certified breeders use regular fluffy mares as surrogate mothers to obtain ‘novifoals.’
  • Pegasus and Alicorn Varieties: Unfortunately, these variations are absent in Novafluffies due to the removal of avian DNA in favor of strengthening the skeletal system.
  • Obesity: Novafluffies are equally susceptible to obesity as regular fluffies.
  • Less Vibrant Colors: Novafluffies lack the typical bright colors of other fluffies, making them less eye-catching. However, their manes still exhibit vivid colors.
  • Issues with Regular Fluffies: Novafluffies are prone to developing adverse and even hostile behaviors towards regular fluffies. If left uncorrected, there’s a risk of them developing ‘manic-psychopathic syndrome,’ which causes a novafluffy to find pleasure in causing harm to their imperfect counterparts.
  • Depression and Emotional Issues: Like humans, Novafluffies are prone to these problems. Dramatic changes in behavior are usually signs to watch out for.
  • Malformations and Mutations: Despite genetic improvements, Novafluffies are equally susceptible to congenital problems and spontaneous mutations. 1 in 3 foals has the risk of being born with one of these issues.

Despite all these changes, Novafluffies still speak with the characteristic infantile tone of fluffies, though less pathetically. Additionally, their obsession with ‘sketties’ is still present.

Care
While much easier to care for than regular fluffies, Novafluffies require more stimuli due to their higher intellect. Reading them stories, exposing them to music and art, and providing toys that encourage mental development are necessary for their intellectual growth.

In terms of physical care, Novafluffies don’t differ much from a dog. They need exercise at least 3 times a week to prevent obesity and heart problems.

Social Behavior
Novafluffies absolutely love human company. They are affectionate and compliant, despising solitude, but they are more understanding than regular fluffies. They get along well with small children and even other pets, especially dogs. However, they should be socialized with regular fluffies from a young age, as regular fluffies tend to be dismissive of them.

Conclusion
Novafluffies are the ideal pets for those seeking an affectionate and intelligent companion, aiming for a long-term relationship, or desiring the experience of having a child with the needs of a common pet. Consider adopting a Novafluffy and leave behind those clumsy, imperfect, and smelly fluffies.

Finally, all the information you should know about Novafluffies. Feel free to use them in your work as you see fit. I hope you enjoyed this little project. It was fun to write. Goodbye.

You should make one of those Flesh could color guides for what kinds of colors are possible in Novafluffies.

You should do some adopts if you feel up to it

I could easily see these being trained and employed as anti ferral fluffy units particularly a group of several of them. With stronger bones, they’d have little difficulty crushing a fluffy and with her intelligence they might likely be smart enough to be sent out in the morning, find and kill some fluffies and then come back home for lunch or dinner. You know what they say. The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a fluffy is a good guy with several not quite fluffies

It is a cool idea, but wouldn’t a shorter lifespan be more profitable for the company?

well, they’re more expensive than normal fluffies, and the birth rate are lower, and they weren’t designed to be mass-sold.

They get along well with dogs and can even form hunting packs where Novafluffies deceive feral fluffies into ambushes.

Seems like a regular fluffy to me.

Well, the intention isn’t for them to be different from regular fluffies, but rather to be an improved version in all the negative aspects they have.

A better word to use here is “sadistic”.

hahaha, I was trying to make it sound more scientific, but in essence, that’s what it was.
