[A Motor Trader’s observation of the Order of Talon]
[Pov Ix]
My entire body felt the sorest it have ever been, ugh what was I thinking? Turning into that monster, and going around screaming… I won’t be able to walk straight for day’s! WingScratch was carrying me and as we walked off, Ozymandias spoke.
“Wow a puffie cawwyin’ a changewing! 'ou nu see that ebewy day Chawwes.”
Charles let out a slight chuckle and even though I couldn’t see WingScratch’s face I knew by the sigh that she was probably a bit embarrassed, than she spoke.
“Hey this Changeling saved our asses pipsqueak, I’d show some respect!”
Ozymandias gives a slightly offended expression while Charles speaks, trying to defuse the beginnings of tension.
“Su am ‘ou goin’ to join us?”
WingScratch speaks, with a slightly lower voice.
“Guess I have no choice. New Home torn to shreds, chickens gone, and those mercenary idiots know what forest I live in… Ugh.”
Curious about why WingScratch even left the Order of Talon, I speak.
“Hey WingScratch, why did you leave the order? I’ve heard stories of those who left in the past, but it was generally thought of that Order members are let’s just say… “Proud” people.”
WingScratch doesn’t say anything for a few seconds, than speaks.
“Guess I was just tired of the way things were heading, saw it was time to bail before things get ugly.”
I speak.
“What do you mean?”
WingScratch adds context.
“For the first few years under Grandmaster Sever I served faithfully, always did my duties without question, always fought with valor. Than things changed when Sever decided to go to the big Talon HQ up in the sky, and Vissarman took over. He was not like Sever at all, had 0 of the wisdom, charm or intelligence that Sever had and instead decided to give in to the more louder and “Extreme” factions in the Order.”
Charles speaks, with him and Ozymandias now invested in what WingScratch was saying.
“Extweme?”
WingScratch speaks again, adding more context.
“I’m talking about the warhawks, weapon makers, those with very large fortunes… He launched a campaign of conquest and exploitation, taking whatever the powerful wanted under the pretext of “security” and running the order like a giant group of thugs. When I saw that things weren’t going to get better, it wasn’t the same. We used to be the good guys, fighting to protect Chicago and being seen as the world’s greatest soldiers. The shame was to much to bear!”
I could hear the tone of WingScratch’s voice, getting more angry and I spoke wondering why nobody did anything?
“WingScratch, doesn’t the Chicago Confederation also have 2 other leaders, why did they let the order sink this low?”
WingScratch speaks.
“Oh the Royal Governor SourBeak and Fellie? Since the times of Torres and Sarina there has always been a tradition of puffy governors kissing the ass of the Grandmaster, and SourBeak is both a retired order member himself and also a massive coward. And when it comes to the fluffy governor it is seen as political heresy to try at all to interfere with the order, and I also don’t see Fellie being any different. She want’s to turn The Garden into a large trading port, and I don’t think antagonizing the Order would make there navy willing to defend her merchant ships… Did you know?”
We all pay close attention now to what WingScratch has to say.
"That the Order of Talon was never supposed to be the 3rd major head of the Chicago government. There was only supposed to be one leader representing both races of Chicago. It states as such in the original constitution, and of course with lot’s of influence and power. Things can “Rewritten”
I was shocked to hear this, I had never known the order wasn’t supposed to be involved in leadership, and everyone looked just as shocked as me. WingScratch speaks again, in a more neutral and calm tone of voice.
“Enough about me, tell me about this Royal Guard gig. Why me?”
Charles speaks, getting closer to WingScratch.
“We am actuawwy wookin’ fo’ speciawists, those we think wiww hewp aftah we basicawwy wost dah entiwe guawd to dah pawace cowwapse. We hope can pwobide some knowwedge into how dah owdah opewates, an’ wefowm it into a pwopah fightin’ fowce.”
WingScratch speaks.
“What is You’re King Enoch like?”
I speak this time, with me having a happy tone.
“Oh he is quite caring! Always caring about what’s going on around the kingdom, and even about those in other nations you-”
WingScratch speaks, slightly annoyed.
“Yeah, yeah… I’ll save judgement when I meet him myself.”
After a bit more walking we had arrived back at the bomber Bay Stables, after WingScratch put’s me in the wagon she goes to sit down and speaks.
“So where am I going exactly?”
Charles speaks as he heads to the drivers seat, with Ozymandias sitting right of him.
“Camp Dwiscoww, Stabwewot. dah two othah speciawists Mac an’ Dac shouwd be dewe. An’ dah staff dewe awweady know ‘ou am comin.’”
WingScratch nods and speaks.
“Are you heading there as well? Never been to Stablelot before, but heard the place is massive.”
Charles speaks as the wagon begins to move back east.
“We wiww dwop 'ou off at dah gate, ‘ou see hab one mowe speciawist to find. Buh Chawwes am suwe dah guawds wiww be mowe den wiwwin’ to wead 'ou dewe.”
WingScratch nods again and Charles speaks looking at Ozymandias.
“Su next am quin. Ozymandias, 'ou suwe 'ou know whewe she wibes? Maximus am a wawge pwace…”
Ozymandias speaks, laying down and putting his hooves behind his neck.
“Yes!”
Than a few moments later Ozymandias opens his eyes and looks a bit awkward speaking.
“Just, ugh… One thin’ though! Quin 'ou see am a bit “pawanoid” 'ou see, su when we get dewe… Make suwe to be weady, we maybeh hab to go fwooh a few deadwy boobytwaps to get to hew! Awwight?”
Ozymandias gives a quick smile and chuckle, while WingScratch looks with confusion. And both me and Charles giving out a long sigh, as we continue on to Inner Motor, than to Maximus. Fin
