Well if there’s divorce from the body that actually makes me think they do have complex thought. Lower animals tend to be dominated by their movements as their whole body can run only one non homeostatic task. What you’re describing is a disconnect between their limbic system and above and their cerebellum, with both sharing custody of the occipital lobe.
