Recategorization Announcement

Heads up, a lot of content is being recategorized. If you get notifications that a story or image has been moved, it is part of an automated process, you are not in trouble. More information to follow later.

I’m more concerned about the 60+ notifications for old posts made by some random user that suddenly appeared… Please DM me if there’s an issue, I literally can’t with all of these.

Also, please fix the quote deletion glitch. It makes me want to wash my mouth out with a 5.56.

There shouldn’t be any more notifications, the fact that any showed up at all was a mistake on my part.

Could you elaborate on the quote deletion glitch?

Gonna see if I can get it to trigger here. It seems kinda random.

Basically, when I directly quote people’s posts, the site sometimes auto-edits them out after I post if I don’t delete everything and repaste it. It deletes the quote after about 2 seconds and shows an edit marker, even though that’s not supposed to show up for a little while after posting when you change stuff. Changing it back (i.e. repasting the quote) also triggers an edit marker, so it seems like there’s something wrong with the edit grace period after posting as well when that happens. It only seems to occur when I use the direct quote option for posts.

Edit: Nope, didn’t trigger. It did on several of my last couple of posts before this if you want to check that out.

Edit²: Forgot to mention it’s been happening since I joined, too.

Edit³: There’s also a glitch where on mobile everything I type on the search and chat gets entered backwards. I don’t even know where to start with that one, though. Not a big deal, don’t worry about it.

Edit⁓: Oh, I just realized all those posts were you… Lol. I’m such a retard. Also, the deletion glitch triggered on my most recent post. I think it has something to do with the length of the post, since it only seems to happen on shorter ones. Also², I’m mistaken, repasting before posting does not prevent it.

Edit⁵: Wow, I’ve edited this so much it’s showing up as edited anyway… Anyway, hope you can do something, thanks for helping.

Right… I’m not sure. I’ve never had anyone describe that bug to me, so it’s very hard to even begin to fix it. Have you tried different browsers?

I got the recategorizing notice. So any would be violent, horror type or with body horror would need to be put into controversial category ?

Why has almost everything even semi-abusive been re-classified as Controversial? Could we perhaps get an explanation?

why has some of my stories where changed to ā€œControversialā€.

It might be because of my browser. I’ll give changing it a try later and let you know.

Because someone reached out to our server provider about us hosting ā€œcartoon bestiality possibly accessible to childrenā€, which caused them to suspend the server. After making my case and regaining site access, I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s best for the foreseeable future to isolate anything problematic behind an opt-in.

The current (subject to change) list of controversial tags is as follows:
abuse
abuse-ending
accidental-abuse
anal-abuse
blood
body-horror
burning
cannibal-fluffy
cannibalism
carnage
child-abuse
choking
crushed
cutting
death
death-from-exposure
decapitation
disemboweled
enfie-pal
foal-rape
genital-abuse
gore
heat-death
human-abuse
human-fluffy-sex
human-nudity
human-violence
impale
impending-doom
industrial-abuse
monetized-abuse
mutilation
necrophilia
rape
sex
sexual-abuse
skinned
slow-death
smarty-abuse
strangulation
suffocation
torture
vivisection

Think you should add abuse-ish to that?

Ok thanks for the info :+1:

Its understandable now with someone called the server. Let’s just make sure most of our mature stuff are in the controversial tag just to keep everything out of public view.

Was trying to avoid doing so, depends on how bad it is. Content that’s actual abuse should just be tagged as abuse instead.

I should have known it was the fault of ā€œthink-of-the-childrenā€ assholes. That sort are the most infuriating people on the planet

ā€œThink of the childrenā€ is what they’re gonna pull when they try to introduce the Internet Security Act

Everyone remember that parents can set parental restrictions themselves already. It’s not the government’s responsibility it privilege to lock and monitor the internet for everyone

Just floating this idea, have we considered switching site hosts (maybe to something adult-friendly, like Hostinger)? Then we wouldn’t have to do everything covertly. Or would that be more of a pain in the ass than I realize?

Also, if it so happens that we have this Discourse site due to the ample grace and kindness of one or more benevolent users, I apologize for being an ingrate. Please understand that I am just ill-informed and frustrated with normies.
