“That am tee-vee! Pawentaw viwus nevah seen tee-vee befowe?” Your baby explains, looking at you confusedly.
“Nu, nevah seen tee-vee befowe. Oooh, bay-bee su smawt! Am smawtest bay-bee evah!” You clap, as they smile and look down.
“Fank 'ou, pawentaw viwus. Buh, Eff-vee-zewo-fouw-fouw-siks am nu bay-bee aneemowe. Am big sickie-fwiend nyo! Wan wa’ch tee-vee 'gain?” Your not-a-baby corrects you, as you get slightly upset. It’s been that long since you’ve seen them?
“Oh-tay… Ooh, wha’ this cawwed?” You ask, as they pause to think and then answer.
“Am cawwed news! It am shu on tee-vee whewe peopwe maek tawkies 'bout fings!” Your baby answers as you gaze at the TV, intrigued by every word the housie-friends on the TV speak.
“Mom-mee?” Your baby continues, now turning towards the very mean housie-friend.
“Yes? What did you see on the TV today?” She questions, as they ask a question with some very familiar-sounding terms.
"Wha’ am ‘Opew-ay-shun: Wowstest Sickies’? Am gewd ow bad? Awso, wha’ am a ‘bay-oh-wep-un’? They ask, as you try to think about what that could possibly mean.
You are Dr. Harriet Roseman, and you are currently trying to find the words for explaining to FV-0446 that you tried to weaponize their “pawentaw viwus”, it backfired, and now they know the name of what you tried to do. What do you do now?
“Nothing, it’s nothing! Now, how about we watch Sickie-Friend TV?” You lie, as they clap their stubby arms together and giggle.
“Oooh, wan wa’ch Sickie-Fwiend Teevee! Can wa’ch bay-bee shu?” FV-0446 questions, as FV-0945 starts staring you down nervously.
“Sure! Now, mommy has to talk to FV-0945. Stay down here while we go upstairs!” You laugh, patting the top of it as it smiles at you.
You can’t quite keep the whole project away from FV-0446 forever, but you’ll try your hardest to make sure it doesn’t learn what happened from its parent.
