They probably wont even seen it coming as it learns to alter its puffy form to somewhat resemble a fluffy body and then ambushes fluffies like ‘the thing’ if it were made of hair.

The last time I drew one without a tail, I just put a little stitch there, so I’ve kind of always thought of it like a little bit of fluff down on their butts
