Not the person you replied to but I’ll gladly contextualize.
- The place is overrun with children. Everywhere. And the mods don’t do anything about it.
- Quality control is nonexistent. You’ll see art that has nothing to do with fluffies, you’ll see absolute garbage off-topic posts, and like six reposts of “but if fluffies were real would u kill it with a rock or no”
- It’s a general dumping ground for undesirables and miscreants. People who get banned from here (usually minors, see rule 1) just get dumped right back there to get their fix of fluffies.
- The rules there effectively coddle people as if they’re not able to make choices or think for themselves.
- This isn’t a gripe, but I’ve seen at least two comments this week call me (yes, me specifically) a monster for daring to institute further quality control. Yes, little Redditors, I see the things you say about me… even though one of you just called me “the pizza man.” Stroke my ego a bit more, won’t you?
Anyway, that’s about the gist of it.

Honestly now I want to read the alien cat comic, that one sounds cool. Not fluffy-related in the least, but cool.
That sentiment’s been used by people against putting in any fluffy standards for ages. While good in theory, it leads to fluffies that look like MLP characters, real life horses, or completely unrelated animals (like dogs/cats with hooves, not even going into subspecies). They’re often hugbox, but if those “fluffies” are ever drawn abused, there is a huge problem!

Preferences aside, there’s a tendency in the community to try to explain fuffy ponies’ actions by either pathologizing it or turning it into a subspecies. Do we really need to make everything a syndrome or subvariant?
