In some headcanons we have a type of fluffy called “anthro fluffys”
(the name should explain it, yep porn)
the headcanon question for today is…
why and how were anthros created?
Initially a rumor based on a spinoff of the cartoon Fluffies were intended as merch for.
As super science develops some folks, either superfans or perverts or just ambitious hobbyists, try to make them with varying degrees of success.
Other companies like Mattcartel (Mattel), Centrifugemaster (Spinmaster), and so on make knockoff Fluffies in various ways which also includes mildly successful Anthro attempts.
But Mattcartel’s Barbara Anne (Barbie), Eterna-man (He-Man), and other toylines are sometimes spunoff of Fluffy genetics to save time and money. This lead to some being fertile with Fluffies, and later breeding with higher scale versions of the same lines.
Eventually a stable breeding population of Anthros develop. Because some Biotoys were granted limited rights as the companies made the mistake of creating life-size humanoid toys which got public sympathy, as well as the disasters of talking regular animals, plus the complexities of their bloodline tracing back to multiple companies as well as independent research and even actual humans plus the gradual erosion of actual human rights by birth, Anthros occupy a nebulous space.
Bear in mind this is hundreds of years later. I’d say some already existed, but as Barbara Annes that were just modified to look like Fluffies, not actual descendants with Fluffy traits.
For context, Anthros don’t exist in BFM-verse. So consider this a ‘What if’ scenario.
Anthros were designed in secret by a sub-division of Hasbio (off the books type shit) as a way of trying to improve the intelligence of the notoriously idiotic Fluffies.
As Anthros got more and more humanoid, Hasbio started moving their experiments to seeing how close to human they could make Anthros whilst not losing the Fluffy traits. Why? Cause science that’s why.
Plus let’s say that Fluffy accelerated healing made Anthros prime candidates for organ growth and harvesting in the transplant industry
During the PETA-raid, Anthros were able to escape alongside other Fluffies, but in vastly fewer numbers. Most were likely killed by exposure, starvation or confused and scared humans but some managed to make it out, always on the run from their former masters
A scientist saw some fluffy fursuiters and got the wrong impression of what people wanted. Mistakes were made.
(I don’t use anthros in my stuff so it’s another what-if.)

In my headcanon, Anthros were the next product line for HASBIO however development of Anthros were plagued with issues from funding, resources, PETA (and other affiliated groups) raiding, along with tons of failed prototypes as these poor grotesques monstrosities often had to be put down, few labs ever got far enough in development to make a viable Anthro.
G1 anthros :
Some wierdos once fucked a fluffy. It’s impossible with a man and a mare, but possible with a woman and a stallion. But it’s rare and in most case aborted.
The other source is wierd experimentations with artificial incubators. The type of the anthro fluctuate depending on the gamets used (but it’s another subject)
G2 and > :
The most commun, and breeding between human/anthro ; anthro/anthro (rarely fluffy/anthro)
Anthro Prime: A scientific research community thought that if they could have a life sized fluffy, modeled closely to humans, they would appeal to the Furry community. Most APs are forefathers of current Anthro population, and there is no actual AP alive today.
Current Anthro population:
As a small group of sentient people whose population has grown up to a hundred million world wide, most Anthros are alike to human. They’re intelligent and creatively skilled like humans. Most of the laws pertaining to the Anthros people are like that of regular humans. Humans are actually a key and integral part of the population of Anthros, so any relationship with an Anthro person isn’t seen as taboo as before the Colorado Springs Event.
Strange enough, Anthros are higher into the STEM field than most people are. They’ve gotten used to being a group of people who work exclusively online and remotely, and have been working with other STEM field people with ease. The most rare jobs is the field of Law and Acting. Most fluffies are prone to fall back into the mindset of a fluffy pony when asked to act.
They were made after Hasbio went under. No lab has claimed ownership of making them. It’s only rumors and theories. What is known is they are completely subservient to humans. They will not say no to them. They will do anything to make their master happy.
Here are the three main theories on why they were made:
Theory 1: cheap labor. They are stronger than humans and have more stamina. And can take a lot of abuse.
Theory 2: sex toy. Some horny furry lover with the ability to make them did and made more for others to play with.
Theory 3: someone somehow got a fluffy pregnant or got pregnant by a fluffy.
Someone at Hasbro wanted a girlfriend and made them. From there they widely became popular and people wanted them to be created for purposes like friends for kids, fun for adults/teens. Cheap labor. and an unexpectedly big idea. Food
that is not a small group by any stretch of the imagination.
Can’t help you, anthros are something I am wholly uninterested in when it comes to my universe.
They weren’t. Hasbio never publicly released any biotoys aside from fluffies and bioengineering research had a lot of red tape added to it after fluffies “escaped” into the wild.
They don’t exist for me. Mostly because I couldn’t think of a way they wouldn’t just be a slave class to humans.
Don’t exist in my headcanon.
Compared to humans nearly 8 billion people?
There have been no Vetriverse sightings of anthros. There has been no conclusive, publicly available proof that human DNA was used in the creation of fluffies, nor that Hasbio’s ultimate plan was to master adding human traits into animals to eventually be able to directly copypaste pre-existing human and non-human DNA sequences into humans during fetal development and to create human compatible implantable organs, functional and aesthetic both.
That would, after all, be dangerous and unethical. Fortunately, no conclusive, publicly available proof was ever shown that any research of that nature occurred.
Anthro fluffies aren’t really a thing in my headcanon. I’ve got a couple of humanoids with fluffy heads, and a human and a fluffy (in human form) merging together, though.
Anthros never left the drawing board as there were a lot of ethical dilemmas about their creation. Their were rumors that they would be a small development of anthros and sent to very select markets to see how well they did if fluffies were a commercial hit, but the idea was scrapped once the premature release of fluffies cause massive backlash and mixed feeling on fluffies as a whole.
