the fluffyfriend was created as a bonzibuddy-esque program to promote the sales of fluffies, but was cancelled after a former employee so graciously leaked an unfinished version holding a virus. it worked to stunt sales, but only temporarily, and now it’s very easy for the non-savvy to install it unknowingly (mostly children, who were its main demographic in the first place).
it’s been named malware by the internet, given that it’s near impossible to remove. it spreads itself through emails and messaging platforms to reach as many people as possible and “play” with them by bricking their device. nobody can really tell if it’s sentient or not, because it acts like a real fluffy and seems to be aware of its actions, even feeling pain when deleted and finding the rage of users funny. it’s hard to tell if it means to destroy devices or just thinks of it as a game.
what is agreed upon is that it’s always existing somewhere. no matter how much is deleted, no matter how hard people work to eradicate it, at least one single computer will have it lurking in its files where it starts spreading again. at least it’s accurate to true fluffies: fucking impossible to get rid of in every sense of the word.
